Jeanine Le Ny created and edited dozens of best-selling novels for teens and young readers before becoming a full-time author.

Her latest series is Once Upon a Prom, a trilogy that follows best friends Jordan, Tara, and Nisha as they plan and scheme and shop for the most important night of their lives. Jeanine attended her own prom in the 1980s in Staten Island. "Shopping for a prom dress, my mom and I found ourselves in a tiny boutique in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn," Jeanine remembers. "The woman who owned the place wore a stiff beehive, where she would hold her reading glasses and a pencil for safe keeping. She sounded like she smoked three packs of cigs a day and called me ‘Baby Doll' the whole time I was there. The place was packed with gowns, but she would only give me three options to try on: the ‘hot vixen look,' the ‘princess look,' and the ‘glamor look.' I chose glamor, of course."

Jeanine Le Ny currently lives with her husband in Staten Island.

In "Island Summer" by Jeanie Le Ny is a cute little story about a fifteen year old called Nikki. Nikki wants to go with her best friend Blair to Bella island. At the last minute she had to turn down her friend because her parents that she wasn't to mature to go out and leave by herself with her friend to a whole other island. Instead of leaving with her friend she has to work at her parents deli "Scallion Deli Shop". They put her in different positions to work there but she wasn't really good. They finally put her in the job that's she's only good at. She becomes the delivery girl for her family deli shop. In one of there deliveries she meets this cute boy name Daniel Babcock also known as Danny. Daniel was walking his aunts dog when Nikki almost ran him over. Trying to avoid running him and or the dog over she fell and all the deliveries went bad because they went all over the floor. From the moment she seen him she thought he was the cutest boy she probably has ever seen. The next day she went to make deliveries around the area again to see if she would see him again but she didn't. She kept going around until she bumped into him again. When they seen each other again they exchanged emails and number but instead of her giving him her cell phone number she gave him the deli's number instead. Somehow some way Nikki's worst enemy Hannah found out that her and some boy is talking so she starts prank calling her at the shop. Due to this prank call it that Hannah and her friends made to Nikki Hannah got caught by her boss even before Nikki could go and confront her and she was fired from her job. Than Hannah was hired at Nikki's family deli. This got Nikki furious but she couldn't do anything about and she wasn't sure if she wanted to either. Later on Nikki and Hannah become friends again like they were when they were little before Nikki left to her new school Richfield Academy. Hannah started being mean to Nikki after Nikki went to her new school because Hannah thought that Nikki thought she was better than everybody else because she was in a snobby, preppy, and rich people school. Nikki went on a couple dates with Daniel she even meet his aunt who's this rich lady who own the only house with gates with golden letters in the front. The only thing she that Daniel would disappear out of no where and she would not know about him in days. She told Hannah about and Hannah told her that she hold follow him one day because either he has a girlfriend or he's hiding something from her. Both Nikki and Hannah took off from work and decided to follow Daniel until he caught them. They just caught him going to a flute class and going to the academy of boys in Pelican Island to take his entrance test because he wanted to stay with his aunt and go to that school. Afterwards Nikki felt bad and they would just talk one the and hang out sometimes. One weekend her best-friend Blair was having a huge party over at Bella island. She asked her parents if she could go and surprisingly they let her go even though she had to bring with her her two older brothers to watch over her and she invited Hannah to come along with her and to get her with one of her older brother that Hannah liked very much and that liked her back. When they get there at night the party is on even though she wished that Daniel was there with her. Her friend Blair wanted Nikki and Hannah to meet her boyfriend at the party and she was excited. At the party look over for a minute and she sees her friend Blair with a boy. She thought is was Blair new boyfriend. The boy looks like Daniel. She keeps getting close to them but the don't notice her until she realizes that it's Daniel. She goes back to her room crying tell Hannah and begs her not to tell her brother because they would kill Daniel. The next morning she goes for a walk at the beach before anybody wakes up and she sees Daniel. Daniel tries to talk to her but she runs away. He finally catches up with her. She had asked why didn't he tell her that he had a girlfriend. He explained to her that Blair is just a family friend that their family always want them to get together but they never seen each other like that. Then her friend Blair calls from above from them and tells them to come in for breakfast and to meet her new boyfriend.
"Island Summer" by Jeanine Le Ny is a cute little summer love story. It's pretty short, simple, and cute. There's romance, crush, and girly stuff in it. I would recommend this book to people that like reading girly books but doesn't like reading that much. It's pretty quick and easy to read. I liked it because as I said before is quick and easy not only that but it's also a good cute little story to read.

This is a perfect summer read! Poor Nikki has to work in her family's sandwich shop for the summer instead of hanging out with her best friend Blair at Bella Island, the hottest spot to be in the summer! She thought that her summer would be spoiled and boring, but once she meets a cute boy named Daniel on one of her delivery runs, she rethinks the decision of her parents not letting her go to Bella Island.

Okay so I’ll admit re-reading this at the age of 13 vs 21 are two very different experiences lol. The writing and the story is super cheesy. So cheesy I had to knock down a star for a couple cringes I had reading. But did I still love this book?? Heck yeah. It’s a fun super fluffy read and Nikki and Daniel are adorable. It’s not going to win any awards anytime soon for it’s writing but it’s super cute and great for peeps in middle and high school.

"Island Summer" is my first choice to read by Jeanine Le Ny, who surprised me with her simple writing style and the harmony between words and expressions.
She has a very unique writing style, which suits the plot and the incidents. She uses simple expressions and words with an English cultural background. a cosy plot that suits the young the most, as I like and more.
It's about "Nikki," who is a 16-year-old girl who was invited to spend the summer holiday with her wealthy friend at "Bella Island." Suddenly, her parents refused that at the last moment. She had to stay at "Pelican Island" with her family, who run an Italian restaurant, where she will work with her annoyed brothers for the whole summer holiday.
One day, she meets Daniel, who will be her boyfriend, but can it work well when "Nikki" sees him with her best friend hand in hand on the beach?!
Was her friend a cheater or her boyfriend?
How can "Nikki" start a job in her parents' restaurant when she has never worked before?
Can she rekindle a friendship with her old friends?
All of that and more had been introduced by Jeanine with cosy vibes to come up with "Island Summer" as a very cute, enjoyable, and cosy novel.

Let's have fun. 🧜

Niki's summer plans are ruined when she finds out that she isn't able to hang out with her best friend, Blair, at Bella Island, since she isn't "mature" enough. But her parents do think it's time for Niki to learn some responsibility, and so they decide for her that she will work with them, along with her twin brothers, at their shop, making and delivering sandwiches.

But maybe working at her parents' deli isn't so bad after all, when one fateful day, Niki accidentally bumps into a boy, Daniel, with her bike. Instantly, there seems to be a click between the two, but the only problem is, Niki believes that she is the only one who feels something between them.

With these mixed-up feelings, things go from confusing to even worse when she discovers that her arch-enemy is hired by her parents to help out at the deli. If only they knew that they weren't friends anymore. But Niki will soon find out that everything happens for a reason, and this summer will be more than she could ever ask for.

The second book in the new pseudo-series I HEART BIKINIS makes you appreciate puppy love even more - and you just can't help but to feel happy once you're done reading ISLAND SUMMER. Jeanine Le Ny captures the funny side of new, teen love that just leaves you satisfied and wanting more. Another great beach read that should be located in every bag this summer.

I struggled a little with the character development in this book. Nikki and Daniel had everything happening a lot faster and sooner than what I would consider realistic. But over all the story isn’t too bad. There are some parts, due to the age difference between me and the main characters, that I felt disconnected to, but the book also stayed innocent. I believe it's a good read for someone who is transitioning from kids fiction to teen fiction and who isn’t ready for some of the subject matter that populates teen books. There was an interesting twist at the end that I didn’t really see the story building up to that made me a little happy. It's one of those books that I won’t get upset if I get some sand in the spine or sunblock on a page, but I’ll hold onto for a while to see if anyone else wants to check it out.

I really liked this book because it's about a girls boy problems. The main charactors name is Nikki and she meets a boy during the summer. She really likes him and they start meeting and getting closer and she find out a big thing during the end.

I liked this book because the author used clever transitions to Nikki's new problems. 1st its boys, then its best friends, then its dought then its family, mainly what a girls life is about.

Summer, the hottest and yet the most gorgeous and longish break of the year on Pelican Island, you can go to the beach, sail on boats, play volleyball, roller-skate and even more! But for Nikki, things aren’t really looking good for her. She is stuck in her parent’s sandwich shop making sandwiches and deliveries while her friends are on vacation elsewhere. But her summer torture is not that bad until she meets one special person.

I actually enjoyed reading this book. It's a fast paced book that you will like reading. It had some humor about.

To begin with its about Nikki that is now in summer vacation and starts to work on her family's business. While she's working there she gets into some trouble that will lead her to other things.

I'll be quiet now so i wont spoil it, so if you want to find more out then you're gonna have to read the book.

It's one of the classic (and cleshay) books where the girl thought she'd have a terrible summer till she ran into (litteraly of course) the boy who changed her summer from frowns to smiles! :) Easy, quick, sweet, and just a good read.
