Mary DeTurris Poust's book on prayer is an excellent devotional for practicing Catholics. It clearly explains the essential requisites of the faith. In the process it refers to holy men and women, saints and the religious, who have paved the way for believers as models of their profound prayer life. For many Catholics this text will be helpful in shedding light on the many aspects of Catholic devotions. The beauty of this work is captured when the writer is able to show how prayer can be invaluable in every aspect of our lives. Helpful devotional concepts and resources on Catholic worship are provided in the appendices. Its index is also a plus as a way for a reader to check significant references in the text.

Ms Poust books seem to indicate she lives in the "idiot" part of the human spectrum and writes books for that group. As a Catholic, I refuse to use her books due to their over general, Vatican 2 favoring, tradition-denying and liberal Catholic BS points of view. Why would she use Fr James Martin for a book when there are HUNDREDS of great Catholic saints and lives to use? Because that is what she thinks is "correct", regardless of what 100's of years of good Catholic leaders have stated. Why read her books that favor such non-Catholic opinions and are vastly incorrect from a Catholic standpoint on truth? Keep writing Ms. Poust, it helps the rest of us recognize what to avoid.

I am almost done this book. I think it is a fantastic look into the Catholic church in a very easy to read manner. It has helped me learn more about different types of prayer. More about why things are done in Mass. Love it.

Loved this book. Gave me a ton of information about my Catholic faith and I learned a lot. It was written in a very down to earth matter. Would love to own this for my bookshelf.
