This small collection of Hymns is mainly meant for the daily use of aspirants devoted to Sri Ramakrishna and the Holy Mother, who are looked upon by many as the Divine Incarnation of the age and who therefore from the daily object of worship for them. After japam and meditation the chanting of evocative hymns and praises enhances one's devotional fervour and gives a sense of completion to one's devotional practice.The composition included in this volume are mainly those of Swami Abhedananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna and a great scholar and preacher. These are couched in simple but mellifluous Sanskrit in various attractive metres.

Swami Tapasyananda (1904-1991) was a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Mission. He was a disciple of Swami Shivananda, one of the eminent disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. The Swami was a vice-president of the Ramakrishna Order from 1985-1991. He has to his credit many books in English, including the translations of many scriptures. He was the president of Ramakrishna Math, Chennai from 1971-1991. He was a prolific writer. He translated many Hindu classics into English from original Sanskrit.
