Xavier Miles was just another kid on his way to college until one wild night changed his entire life. After moving across the country to escape his past, Xavier joins a campus ministry to honor a promise to his mother. Now, he's trying to figure out his life while balancing college, a job, and a new girlfriend. But when God tells him to dump his sweetheart, he freezes up.
Xavier embarks on a journey of faith as he learns to trust in God while searching for his life partner. Along the way, he is chased down by the darkness he left behind before college and is challenged in every area of his faith. It's not until he meets a strange young woman that he begins to see God's plans unfold in his life.
The only thing that confuses him about his future wife is that she doesn't seem interested in men...
How is that part of God's plan?
Singlehood is a Christian romance/coming-of-age novel. It is a journey of faith, love, and trust in God. This book is a standalone written for readers of college age and older.
Why did it have to endddd!? Singlehood was such a beautiful story that took me on a journey from brokenness to redemption. I absolutely loved how the storyline was woven together, filled with depth, wisdom, and encouragement for believers—whether single or married. A. Bean has a gift for reminding us that God already knows who our partner will be, and that trusting His timing is worth it.
Xavier and Elijah quickly became my favorites. I especially loved how Elijah entered Xavier’s life right when Xavier needed to forgive himself for his past. That relationship was a powerful picture of grace and second chances. Adeline’s struggles with unforgiveness also struck me deeply, as their journey mirrored the reality of how hard it can be to let go, but how freeing it is when we do.
This book also challenged me to look differently at the LGBTQ community. So many are living out of brokenness and simply need the healing power of the gospel of Christ. The reminder that God sometimes separates us from people or situations to draw us closer to Him was another truth that really hit home for me. It can be lonely, but that season is often where we grow most deeply in Him.
I didn’t want this story to end—I loved every second. Once again, A. Bean has written a book that doesn’t disappoint. I would recommend Singlehood to anyone searching for a story of healing, forgiveness, and God’s unfailing love.
Eli, a college counselor and a church youth minister, works with a young man, nicknamed X, who has just started college after going through a terrible party experience that ended in a horrible wreck that involved many tragedies. Eli also counsels a college student, MJ, who has lost her twin sister to suicide and is having a lot of personal issues. At church, Eli teaches a weekly study to a group of young people on being single, having life goals and what makes up a good marriage. Lots of interesting interactions and interpersonal relationships occur with regards to how it all fits in with regards to God’s plans and will.
This book is most definitely in my top 5 this year! I love how it touches on all the thoughts that single Christians have all the time. Waiting on the special someone can be hard alongside the growing pains of life. I loved Xavier's character and how we get to see him grow up and in his faith. Even though this book does deal with someone heavy topics, I love how we get to see God through it all! And I love how we get an glance into what we think Heaven looks like along with how God creates people made especially for you. I do wish that we got to see a bit more romance, because the ending felt like a brand new beginning!❤
I would recommend this book again and again. I'd even recommend it to unbelievers because it has so much packed inside to help with salvation. I loved this book and everything I learned about God's special person for my life. I love that it quoted scripture verses to back up the knowledge of the Bible. I definitely cried and a book that makes me cry is always a five star read. The author of this book put this story together perfectly and I loved the twists and turns and ending. ❤️✝️
Non words. I absolutely LOVE this book. I think it’s my new favourite book.. The author did a fantastic job at this and explaining the bible verses as she goes along in the story. This book will definitely be read by me again. I think I will also use this book as a guide to some scriptures I am reading because they were explained perfectly.
Digging deep with controversial issues. Getting God's. Essayed of love, a love so great it took his son to bridge the divide. This book provided deep roots to working thru current day culture warfare. Great Job!!
Every Christian needs this book! In fact everyone needs it! The depiction of singleness, hearing from God and marriage are so eye opening! 100000/10 from me. Finished it in one day 😂 may have slept super late 😉
This was a great read. I loved the authors creativity and how she created a picture of what heaven may look like. I appreciated the deep topics she touched on, they need to be talked about. 10/10 read, most of all love all the scripture and the biblical advice written.
I loved it! As a college student struggling with singleness and my identity I found this book helpful. The message behind it was beautiful and wonderfully made.
