Tending Towards Chaos is the culmination of years of inspiration, travel, life, observation and evolution. With poetry themes running the gamut of love, loss, emotion, politics, current events, disasters and dreams- its chaotic nature reflects that of a world as seen through the eyes of a woman with an old soul and a young heart, open to experience, eager to enjoy life, walking in the light but not willing to turn her eyes from even the darkest corners.
Ami Lovelace is the quintessential modern vagabond. Born in Pennsylvania, and not one to let grass grow under her feet, she has pursued her dreams across continents and oceans, having lived in several US cities, resided two years in Seville, Spain, she now finds herself currently anchored in San Francisco, California. Ami spent her undergraduate years at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania, where she earned a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature, with a dual minor in Classical Studies and Political Science (International Relations). An intrepid learner in life, Ami is actively looking to pursue a M.F.A. in Creative Writing while concurrently working on her first fiction novel and a collection of non-fiction short stories based on her quirky travel experiences.
I won this book through Goodreads First Reads giveaway and I'm very glad I did. If you like poetry with flair, this is definitely an excellent read. Ami pulls from real life experiences and finds beauty, whether light or dark in pretty much everything. In the second half of the book, I found elements of Sappho (for instance "Awaiting the Gold Sphere", "She Desired Loving Souls," etc ) - deep and passionate. I'm not sure if this was intended but as a reader, I was delighted :) I'm looking forward to reading any future publications! Thank you so much for this great book to add to my collection.

In Part One of her book, Ami Lovelace explores the darker side of emotion; The shadows of loss, love, disasters, dreams....Bravely she shares her observations and leaves us still with a message of hope amidst the chaos.

Part Three entitled, "Viene Una Vagabunda Mundial" is her wonderful collection of Spanish poems not to be missed!
