Disclosure: Shane is a long-time friend and colleague in the Medical Humanities.

As I prepared to retire (finally) from my work in the Medical Humanities, I decided to re-read this slim volume by Shane Neilson. It brought home to me the importance of this remarkable field of art, allowing me new space to understand both patient and caregiver. I marked many of these poems to re-read and reflect upon, especially:
On Diagnosing Alzheimer's Dementia (stunningly beautiful ending)
On-Call Song: To My Wife (such love)
and
The Doctor Will See you Now

Plus so many others. If you've ever been a patient, cared for someone or loved a caregiver, this book will open new vistas of understanding.
