The Hunt for Cinderella #5

Once Upon a Proposal

Rate this book
It was only a kiss, meant to get rid of an unwanted suitor. Now Gabriel Gannon was asking Bobbie Fairchild to pretend to be his fiancee so he could gain custody of his son and daughter. She certainly wouldn't have to fake her attraction to the incredibly sexy businessman and devoted father. And that was the problem....

Gabe couldn't forget the kiss he'd shared with his grandmother's tenant. He knew he was asking a lot, but proposing to Bobbie just felt so right. The petite dynamo was making him believe in love again. Now if he could only get "her" to believe that this was their chance for a new beginning--and the fairy-tale ending they both craved....

Adorei!

4 1/2 Stars! ~ This is the first Fairchld sister's story. Bobbie is the youngest and she's always felt a bit of a klutz and because she can't seem to keep a job for long, a bit of a failure, unlike her beautiful and successful sisters. The one constant in her life has been her volunteer work for Golden Abilities and helping to raise and train the puppies they provide as service dogs. She shares a deep relationship with Fiona Gannon the director, and comes to live as a tennant in her carriage house. Enter Gabe Gannon, Fiona's grandson, who desperately needs a miracle so he can gain joint custody of his kids. When Bobbie bursts into his arms and demands a kiss (and make it look good), he discovers that Bobbie is the solution to all his troubles.

Ms. Leigh brings us two amazing characters. Bobbie with her endearingly quirky personality and Gabe with his gruff exterior and generous heart. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story.

The Hunt for Cinderella

After the success of his ultimatum to his four sons, Harrison Hunt is basking in the joy of their marital bliss and the abundance of grandchildren. His best friend and the widow of his former business partner, Cornelia Fairchild, has four daughters that seem to be as commitment phobic as his sons had once been. He wants Cornelia to know his joy, and so he subtly, and not so subtly, begins a campaign to find the Fairchild women husbands.

It started with a kiss meant to get rid of an unwanted suitor, but now Gabriel Gannon was asking Bobbie Fairchild to pretend to be his fiancee for the sole purpose of gaining custody of his kids. Bobbie didn't need to fake her attraction to the handsome businessman and devoted father. And that was the problem in a nutshell.

Gabe couldn't forget the kiss he'd shared with his grandmother's tenant no less. He knew he was asking a great deal, but proposing to Bobbie just felt like the right thing to do. The petite knockout was making him believe in love again. Now if it were just possible to convince her that this was a beginning to the fairytale romance they both craved.

Typical romance theme. No surprises.

I admire authors who can weave a story with such realism and authenticity that I feel imersed in the experience as soon as the stage is set. Although the first meeting where Bobbie and Gabe kiss is a bit unusual and bordered on being unbelievable, it really fit the story line, the hero, and the heroine. Every character was believable and well developed. The story line kept me totally engrossed til the last page. I belong to that rapidly deminishing minority that believes sex is sacred and is to be experiencid only within the bonds of marriage and, then, left to the imagination of the reader. I know that is not a popular position for romance publishers today, but it keeps me from awarding the five stars it otherwise deserves.

The book wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either. There were to much descriptions which weren't necessary. The characters weren't bad and all but the book just didn't click with me.
