After a lifetime of trading passion for ambition, Doctor Emily Hillard is determined to catch a killer. Instead of being awed by her technology, the morphs pair her with the most exasperating man she has ever encountered. He's barbaric, domineering, and unapologetically savage. She should be frightened, or at least repelled by his lack of sophistication. Instead, she finds him refreshing, and pictures herself crushed beneath his strong body as he skillfully peels away her civility.
Cruz, a panther-shifter with pyrokinetic abilities, spent eleven years as an assassin before being allowed a reprieve. He is finally enjoying some down time when a murderous rogue chooses his territory for a hideout. Now half of Alpha Colony is searching for the rogue, and Cruz's handlers are desperate to get their hands on Emily's prototype. Ordinarily Cruz would have ignored their threats and ultimatums, but he's intrigued by the delectable doctor. So, he decides to show the hothouse flower what life in the wild is all about.

I was somewhat entertained by the series, but felt the ending was a little bland. The storyline was good and I'd have liked a grand finale much better - a big confrontation between the morphs and their keepers, a hint of war - anything but the actual ending. Also, I found Cruz and Emily to be rather mellow compared to the couples of the other 3 books. I wasn't crazy about the BDSM, but completely understood the way the dominant issue was played through the morphs. Again, they were entertaining but nothing out of this world.
This is the 4 th book in this series that I have read and love how different it is from her other series'. In fact this book is my favourite in the series so far, which is saying something. I am not usually one for short reads but these books sure pack a lot in. There are scorching hot scenes so much so that you can feel the heat with each page turned. The you can add in the really hot alpha, his unique heroine, intrigue, betrayal, sabotage, just the right amount of action and a HEA. I really hope to see more in this series, especially if the first 4 books are anything to go by, Cyndi has certainly outdone herself.
This book was artfully crafted and uniquely designed to pull you into the pages where secrets and fairytales live and dreams come true for those who believe!
Cruz and Emily's story was extraordinary, enchanting, enthralling and endlessly entertaining where stubbornness and determination to rise above conflict with a heart of gold and a core of steel to get to where love and happiness lives!
Cruz is the last of his kind. As a trained assassin he is trained to always be in control. Emily is a hybrid Dr. Working with the resistance. Her assignment get close to Cruz, but how close is too much. Can these two find common ground, or make their own passion.
These stories and characters are very different to what other paranormal authors write...its new and exciting...love the characters and the attractions of the couples...plenty of depth so you understand fully the story and how the Morphs came into being...hope Cyndi writes some more sequels to this series.
It's hard not to love hybrids & morphs after reading this series. This particular hero is one of my favourites. All the Alpha Colony books are full of excitement, intrigue and love. When's the next one?
