Dara Girard is a national bestselling and award-winning author. After many novels in various sub-genres from contemporary to paranormal romance, women’s fiction, and non-fiction Ms. Girard continues to win readers with each new book.

I was born many years ago in the American Midwest to a brave immigrant couple who decided to call themselves my parents. They moved around the country until they finally settled in Maryland. As a child I was always scribbling something and my family supported my efforts (with white knuckles and a lot of prayer).

After graduating from college, I worked various jobs and did some freelance writing hoping that one day my writing efforts would make me rich and famous and allow me to quit. That didn’t happen. Instead my last job was made redundant and I decided not to look for a new one. Instead I chose to live on my savings (and mild insanity) and write full time.

I would not recommend this route for other aspiring writers. Either marry well or have three years worth of salary saved. I took the risk because I wanted to and fortunately that same year I received an offer from a publisher for a two book contract–after a thirteen year effort, but that’s another story.

Noreen Is a romance author who leads a boring life since her divorced. She was always different from her twin sister Arlene. Noreen's sister wanted her to trade places with her to deliver a package for her boss / boyfriend Clyde to St Lagans. Noreen is a bit adamant but her sister finally convinced her and plus she has been in a writing slump, so going away maybe good for here. While on St Lagans Noreen aka Arlene met Michael and both hit it off, however, like Noreen, Michael had his own reason for being on the island and it involves the package. Michael is hired to investigate Arlene / Noreen over a missing antique that she may have.

I shamelessly had this book like so many others on my kindle that I have not read yet. With new books added it gets push to the bottom of the pile and I am so sorry I did not read it earlier when I purchase it. I love this book especially towards the end. In some ways, this book reminds me of the movie (Romancing the Stone). It is not that similar but it had similarity with characters. The romance novel author trying to help her sister and has to go to the jungle where she meets and fall for a guy who is trying to help her but has his secrets and then falls in love with her. Anyway, the book had a good plot along with a little action and two people pretending to be something they are not. Michael was just so nice and if he did not have my heart in the beginning, he surely had it by the end. Noreen, what she was willing to do for her sister made her seem amazing to me. I feel a little selfish saying this but towards the end with Arlene, I wanted her to have her own story, but either way everybody was happy. This read was a sweet and cute read.

Storyline: GOOD
Intimacy: FAIR
Enjoyment: GOOD

Great Story!! Arlene and Noreen are identical twins. Its been years since they've switched identities, but Arlene has an emergency and needs Noreen to switch places for an important delivery. After much convincing, Noreen agrees to go on the cruise Arlene was suppose to take.

Noreen and Michael become acquainted after a hit and run accident and embark on a cruise ship affair. There's only one problem, Michael thinks she is Arlene. They fall in love, but Arlene(Noreen) disappears. Michael is in hot pursuit, but will he know the difference between the real Arlene and the Arlene(Noreen) he fell in love with.

I really loved this story. Michael was one sexy pirate. I feel this book definitely falls in the Must Read category!!

Here is my review posted on the Romance In Color website:

Romance In Color rating = 4

Noreen Webster and Michael Vaughn meet on a Caribbean cruise under false pretenses and, despite their original motives for the charade, begin to care for each other. Deceit has brought them together, but will it also keep them apart?

After being betrayed by her ex-husband, Noreen Webster is finding it difficult to write the happily-ever-after stories that have made her a successful romance author. Her cynical attitude, and her vow to herself to not let her emotions get the better of her with the opposite sex keeps showing up in her unfinished manuscript, and this is unacceptable to her publisher.

When Noreen’s twin sister, Arlene, presents an opportunity to deliver a package to an anonymous person in Barbados all expenses paid, Noreen believes this may be the jump start she needs to finish her manuscript. After all, a Caribbean cruise will probably provide the right atmosphere for a romance novel. The only catch is Noreen will have to pretend to be “Arlene” until the package is safely delivered. The twins, Noreen and Arlene, are complete opposites in everything from personality, wardrobe selection, outlook on life, and most importantly choice in men, so this free trip will pose several challenges for Noreen as she learns to stay in the character of Arlene.

Michael Vaughn is loyal, which is the reason he has taken on this final mission as an undercover investigator, and his target is “Arlene”. Michael has always been able to rely on his instinct, research, and good looks to be successful in his missions. However, something seems off in the research provided on “Arlene”, and he hasn’t quite figured it out. An unfortunate accident shows another side of “Arlene”, and this gives Michael a chance to adjust his game plan. But, will the hunter get captured by the prey?

PAGES OF PASSION is a sweet, spicy and suspenseful story of two people who strongly protect their hearts because of past experiences, yet secretly long for the person of the dreams. There is an unexpected twist towards the end of the story, that I did not see coming that makes this story of mistaken identities unique. While both Michael and Noreen have different agendas for getting to know each other better, I enjoyed how Ms. Girard evolves their budding attraction, and shows how learning to trust allows for glimpses into their true personalities.

PAGES OF PASSION is the second book in the Ladies of the Pen trilogy, but stands alone nicely, though I recommend reading the first book in the series, WORDS OF SEDUCTION, to more fully understand the personalities of the three ladies. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
