What if the world as you see it… is merely the beginning of the illusion, and those you meet have hidden agendas?
Decent read. I liked the general discussions regarding spirituality and it's focus in martial arts training. The first and last few chapters had good points for reflection. I found the middle chapters (especially those on specific techniques or proof of the psychic powers) too unrelated or esoteric and uninteresting. I see no harm in skipping through them. Jock strongly argues on psychic abilities; I cannot say they exist, nor could I say they don't. However, he mentions at least one scenario which has been similar to ones I have experienced.
At parts the book feels unfinished: clumsily jumping arguments, errors in copy editing, or incomplete descriptions which may have been better left out as confusing for the general public. Several portions of the book give the impression it was written as a resource for his students or others in his discipline. This might turn off those who are not familiar with his martial art (I am still unsure what it is, too) or are coming from a completely non-martial background.
Overall, I found that this book generated a discussion about what my own martial art means and how it fit into my life.
