The Trail of the Octopus: The Dea-CIA Cover-Up at Lockerbie

Rate this book
From the conspiracy world - where pigs can fly, written in the early 1990s, this book may be a progenitor of the species  Conspiracy book aficionados will applaud the reappearance of  Trail of the Octopus . If not perhaps the Mother of the  genre , it is certainly a classic, with all of the established Iran, Iraq, Libya, Cypress, DEA, CIA, DIA, Justice Dept., drugs trafficking, Contras, Pan Am, Lockerbie, Bin Ladin, strange deaths, finger-pointing, perjury, media all the elements that have come to define the species. Curiously, the expression "conspiracy theory" is itself the subject of a conspiracy theory, which claims the term was popularized by the CIAin order to discredit conspiratorial believers. Brought back to life by Steve Berry's 2013 novel  The King's Deception , this edition is faithful to the authors' intent, it has corrected some typos and errors. It contains 8 illustrations, 16 documents, and an index.

I'm not sure what to make of this book...it lies out a very scary situation involving the DEA, DIA and their possible role in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. Here's the situation, though. Lester Coleman is arrested for lying on a passport application; allegedly his aliases while in the DIA. He alleges his arrest is based on his belief that he "knows too much" about 103. OK...I give him the benefit of the doubt. After reading the book, however, I did an internet search of Lester K Coleman, and he's been arrested, charged and imprisoned for various other cases of fraud. Because of his character, I don't believe Coleman is credible, and as a result, neither is his allegation in this book.

Unfortunately I have not seen a revised version of this book that would explain Coleman's other alleged transgressions of the law.

This book provides an excellent inside look at the events leading up to and following the Lockerbie tragedy. Granted, it is only one side of the story but if even half of what Coleman says in the book is true, then the wool was pulled down over everyone's eyes in the months and years that followed.

A.G. Barr was the AG under Bush One when he issued a fake indictment to cover up! V

Barr was former CIA analyst who faked charges against two Libyan to cover up a botched US govt operation. A top secret file has surfaced that proves Barr lied about Pan Am 103 bombing and CIA asset who carried the bomb on the plane December 21 1988. Barr has always been a disinformation expert.
