With a world tour around well known alternate universes like Earth-2099 and the Heroes Reborn reality this feels more like filler, but they drive the interesting Proteus storyline to an even more interesting finale that feeds into the second half of this collection. Not as good as the earlier books, but still forming overall a great series. A 7 out of 12, Three Star jam.

World Tour: 2099 (75-76). A fun visit in 2099 that nicely introduces the setting. Also a great introduction of a new team member [7/10].

World Tour: Squadron Supreme (77-78). This crossover falls somewhat flat. First we get the way-too-typical superheroes fighting, then a court trial that's essentially a clip show. The only good element of the story is that it gives some closure to the Squadron -- but even that feels rushed [5/10].

World Tour: Future Imperfect (79-80). The look into the Future Imperfect timeline is intriguing, but then it once more degenerates into a dull fight with Proteus, pointing out the continuing flaw in the "World Tour" series [6/10].

World Tour: Heroes Reborn (81-82). What in the world!? Counter Earth? Young Allies? An adult Jolt? Totally weird Chaos and Law things? This comic makes a really poor amount of sense without the background. But at least the Proteus story is over, which unfortunately made the World Tour pretty awful because it was all dumb fights. Which is a pity because the idea of visiting all those worlds was cool [5/10].

It's Your Funeral (83). A nice bit of remembrance for fallen heroes [6/10].

Back in the Saddle (84). This downtime-issue offers a nice look at the characters, and also spins things in an interesting direction. It made less sense the first time I read it, without the context of the issues before! [7/10].

The New Exiles (85-86). The Wolverine Exiles are largely hilarious; I wouldn't have minded seeing more of them. They're also a good catalyst for getting the Old Exiles back in business, resulting in an all-around great story [8/10].

The Superguardians (87-88). Always good to see the Imperial Guard in action, especially in an X-Men story. Bedard here really highlights their Legion origins. In any case, this is a fun action-adventure story [7/10].

Wallflowers (89). A nice touchback to two of the biggest dangling plot threads for the Exiles, and a nice bit of emotion too [7/10].

Rules of the Game (Annual). This is a nice callback to the book's origin, but just OK beyond that [6/10].

Overall, this was a Tale of Two Books: the mediocre end to the mediocre World Tour, and Tony Bedard's finale which was generally up to his usual good quality. The overall result is clearly not as good as the previous four volumes (minus the Austen bits), but it still ekes in an above-average rating ... on average.

Wolverines of the multiverse unite!!! Way to hang a lamp shade on the "wolverine can solve every problem in the marvel universe" issue. Nuff said.

Anyways, on to the serious review. I liked this volume less then the last ones. I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it's because the Proteus story dragged on so long and had such an satisfactory finish. I'm hoping the ending of that villain is revisited and made more satisfactory.

The rest of the volume was just kind of meh. Maybe when I come back to it and read it again I'll feel different.

I’d give this a 3.5 overall.
It’s fun, but completely inconsequential. Rather like junk food, I really enjoyed it while I was reading it, but as soon as you finish it, it doesn’t stay long in the memory.
Tony Bedard just has fun trawling through a lot of alternate realities, and it is fun seeing versions of fan favourites, but it does get a little samey at times. You also feel you could just plug in different characters at any point and it wouldn’t affect the narrative at all.
The art is generally good, though does vary with the various pencillers and inkers.
If you like Marvel though, you’ll enjoy.

Book 5 continues the exploration of Proteus as a multiversal threat as the Exiles team gathers a few new key members from the wider Marvel multiverse.

This series just keeps getting better and better. Can't believe there's only one more collection after this! Why was it cancelled! Definitely one of my favorite runs. Tony Bedard really is one of comics best writers. I've been saying that for years and years. I've read a great deal of his work at DC so it's wonderful to see his skills translate so sublimely to the Marvel Universe. If Marvel had any sense, they'd sign him to a very high dollar exclusive deal.

The majority of this volume deals with the teams battle against Proteus. He has gained the ability to hop dimensions at will, so the team follows him from reality. It kind of seems like an excuse to visit a bunch of different worlds, and the title of the arc fits that, "World Tour".
At this point, the Exiles has started to lose some steam for me. I still enjoy it, but I think it's the fact that I've read 90+ issues of it in the past month or so. One more volume to go.
