Actual rating is 3.5 stars.

This is part of the young readers series that takes place in the Dragonlance realm. The others must be read before this one. In this one, our group of young companions are still searching for a way to recover Nearra's memories. To throw off Maddoc, they enter the mountains but are soon in trouble as they are not prepared for this adventure.

I am enjoying this series but one can tell it is meant for younger readers. The strength of this series is the characters. This holds true for this book also. There is some excellent character growth for our characters and it shows our young characters maturing as they continue on their adventure. There were several moments that I thoroughly enjoyed. Conversely, there are a couple of groan worthy moments too. The biggest flaw was the introduction of an aspect of a character's father that was never introduced before. If there was some foreshadowing in the previous books, I would have loved this aspect and this book would have received a higher rating.

The books in this series are a quick, nice read. They are to be enjoyed by readers of all ages. They are not perfect but the good definitely out weigh the bad.

The Dragon Well is a fun and exacting book that I really enjoyed and takes place a week after the ending of The Dying Kingdom. Dan Willis does a terrific job in continuing the storyline as the kids put themselves into more and more dangers trying to help Nearra recover her lost memories. The addition of Set-ai to the cast to teach them more fighting skills was a pleasant surprise.

But, of course, the most intriguing thing about the DragonLance: The New Adventures books is wondering what is going to happen to Nearra when her powers finally emerge. Will she be overcome with the evil female sorceress residing inside of her? Will she obtain all the powers of this evil sorceress, yet still remain the nice Nearra that readers have grown to love? Or will she turn totally evil and attack and kill all of her friends? These are questions that we all have about this storyline.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to find out. So, pick up a copy of The Dragon Well, by Dan Willis. You will love it! I look forward to seeing what happens next in Return of the Sorceress by Tim Waggoneer. The title says it all.

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.

My 6th grade teachers' HUSBAND wrote this! The publishers haven't been publishing very much lately, so I can't find all the other books.
