IMO 'Hester in the Wild' is Boynton's best book. Too bad it's out of print.

Hester in the Wild is a book about a young pig who learns to adjust to various problems that arise. As more and more complications come up she is able to learn more and more form each experience. This simple story provides simple illustrations that come together to create a strong message to the readers. Reading this book to children will provide them with the idea that they can overcome any trial that comes their way so long as they put their mind to it and don't give up. The illustrations, simple as they are, capture the audience by the bright, happy colors and details. It brings a sense of comfort and light heartedness to the reader and makes it an enjoyable reading experience. Hester Learns to overcome her problems with hard work and dedication which is a good lesson for anyone to learn.

This is one of my all time favourite stories from childhood. Just thinking of the various scenes makes me giggle, decades later.

The fairy godmother and her quips kill me.

I think this book is great because it shows that sometimes life gets you down, and things don't go your way and it's okay to get angry and frustrated... as long as you keep on going.

It's a shame that this book is virtually impossible to find these days.

A book that my grown children still remember with love. I have to go get a copy for my new grandchild who will be her in November/December.
