Worlds collide when a man of magic is forced to take a woman of science as his bride. Powerful Bloodsworn, Devlin Kel-Tragar, is sent to Earth to claim his prophecy bride, a task he has no heart for until he learns that research chemist, Avera St. John, is also his Starmate, the one woman in the universe born just for him. Now he'll do anything to claim her. But will his slow seduction of his lady mate give his enemy time to take away the one thing Devlin can't afford to lose? Avera is drawn to her new neighbor, Devlin Kel, despite the mystery she senses surrounding him. A mystery that blows her safe little scientific world wide open when strange men with swords try to kill her and Devlin shows up and blasts them with magic. Real, honest-to-goodness magic! Her world is suddenly changed forever, and Avera must decide if she is able to accept those changes along with the man responsible.
The only negative thing I can say about this book is it ends to abruptly. Fast paced but great primary and secondary character involvement. My only advise is not to do what I did and start reading late in the night. I couldn't put it down.
Fantastically Romantic! A perfect marble of reading. Using a blend of sweeping majestic fantasy, in the style of Kathleen Kurtz and knee gripping suspenseful action, Lane tells a timeless romance. Devlin, bound by prophecy and duty, must finally face his bride; a stranger from someone else's plane and planet. Avera, isolated, works a daily grind in a chemists factory to hide from her painful past. Who knew that chemistry would explode between the two upon meeting? Who could imagine duty so delicious or how a past could prepare you to survive? Who thought friendship could paint such relief? And who, was determined to stop this surprised couple from becoming one? With Devlin running to protect his precious Starmate, and Avera fighting to explain a new reality, the reader dashes across pages quickly, pausing only for moments of passion and suspense that deepens the characters. From the outer glass of solid plot and engaging characters, to the cat's eye of heated passion, my interest rolled over smooth well knit, well structured chapters. Bloodsworn gleams in the manner of old, and flashes with a fire that I won't soon be trading. Lane lends herself toward collection and fond re-visits. Her marble's a definite keeper!
