This novel takes place in the world of Dragonlance. It is a story of a minor character that appeared in the original trilogy. This takes place before that trilogy. This book is your basic sea-faring adventure where the crew battle pirates, magic, and huge amount of fantastic creatures. The crew is an eclectic mix of species that the reader can enjoy. The adventure that is forced upon them has been done before but this book is an enjoyable read. If you like adventures that the setting is the open seas and love fictional creatures, this book is for you.

A wonderful Seafaring adventure!

This book follows a sailor that is forced into the role of Captain. Maquesta Kar-thon is filled with all kinds of fun. Pirates, Minotaurs, Rare sea monsters, Sea Ogres, Shadow people and boat racing, is just some of the cool things you'll encounter in this novel.

I was very impressed with this book as far as side Dragonlance novels go. A fun read for fans of the series.

Interesting creatures and character dynamics. A great sea tale. The overall story is an old classic tale- so predictable- but well told.

It's a pretty good, but no minotaur would ever act this way.. somebody didn't study the source material properly

A very fun book! Although the cover says Tina Daniell wrote it, the inside says Jean Rabe with Tina Daniell. I enjoyed it: a fun sea-faring race against time with Maquesta and crew trying to capture a vicious sea creature in order to save her captive father. I found it a little predictable and thought they were too many various creatures, but that’s probably just my taste. The writing was good for this type of adventure. Two things, Berem’s name is mentioned once, and the minotaur have hooves!
