Paul Bruce Dickinson is a British singer, airline pilot, radio show host, DJ, Historian, television presenter, fencer and songwriter, best known as the lead singer in the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. According to Allmusic, Dickinson "was the most acclaimed and instantly recognizable vocalist to emerge from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement of the early-'80s".
Maybe not as funny as the first book but certainly a good laugh. For anyone that grew up in the 1980s you will find the wit something you can relate to.
I really wanted to like this one as much as I liked the first one, but I'm afraid that is not the case. It felt a bit like Bruce wrote himself into a corner in a couple spots, and didn't know how to get himself out of it again. It was also, in my opinion, a bit needlessly gross. Not that the first one didn't have grossness, but it was just over the top here to the point that it was a bit eye-roll inducing. Bummer, really.
I truly wasn't a fan of the first novel, so I had low expectations for the second one. It was a nice surprise though. This one didn't feel that hastily written. Also remarkably well written if you compare it to the first one. And this one did have some flesh on the bones. It one again follows the grotesque ways of Sir Iffy Boatrace, but in a much more convoluted way. This one did pull me in, and left me wanting more. Now I feel sorry Dickinson never got around to the third installment of his.Lord Iffy series.
