What could a man who already has everything possibly want? How about a baby? Someone to carry on his business when he dies? But to have the baby, he needs a wife. This is why Nathan Rudolph interviews all the single women in his company. They think they might get a job promotion, but he comes with a marriage license instead. And the winner isn't happy. But he's dealt with difficult people before and is certain that, in no time at all, Amy Watson will be very happy to be Mrs. Nathan Rudolph...as long as he seduces her right. *These are the books in the Omaha Contemporary Romances Book 1: With This Ring I Thee Dread Book 2: What Nathan Wants Book 3: Just Good Friends
What's to say? I write a lot. I read often. I sleep little. Once in awhile, I've been known to clean the house. A number of kids live in my house and there's this guy they call dad and I call husband. All in all, it's a pretty good life. :-)
As absolutely rediculous as the stories are, they are also heartwarming and sweet and funny. I downloaded book 1 for free a long time ago but never read it until recently. I immediately purchased book 2, and I definitely plan to complete the series.
What Nathan Want had me in stitches! I was surprised how quickly I loved it, and fast I devoured the book. It was so freaking good! I fell completely in love with the chemistry and banter between Amy and Nathan, which was quite hilarious. And their growing romance was so engaging that there was never any chance they'd lose my attention. I was captivated from the beginning!
This is a feel-good, book in my opinion. And will definitely be added to my list of re-readable books!
This writer has difficulty understanding the difference between an alpha hero and a narcissist predator. I am afraid she is utterly convinced the hero of this story is "a little overbearing, but loveable and means well, so we should just forgive him for not waiting for anybody to figure out in their own time that Nathan ALWAYS knows best" (insert sarcasm here). As a woman living in the real world (the scary, ugly place with many bad people pretending to be decent) I feel like I should share my interpretation of the story.
How to become a victim of a narcissist:
1. Browse only the first page of a contract he then pressures you into signing without even reading ANY of the other pages and tell yourself there's no harm in disregarding those red flags. 2. Pretend to have a backbone and refuse to do what he wants and feel entirely satisfied with your lack of action. 3. Discover he went behind your back again (oh shocker) and sulk like a teenager. Yes, this would be the point where you get your shit together and get an annulment or at the very least, seek legal advice. 4. Allow him to rope in your parents without even trying to come clean about having been a total ninny and signing your life away. 5. Sulk some more, but don't take any action against someone who ruins your livelihood, takes away your home and manipulates your family into believing every word he says and to top it all off TELLS you, you WILL come to see that he is ALWAYS right about everything. (!) 6. Admit you have not now, nor ever had, nor ever will have any backbone by giving in without any decent reason to feel even slightly empathetic to your captor and give him EXACTLY what he wants, whenever he bloody well wants. 7. Abandon the remnants of your common sense and defend him to those who know he's a manipulative egomaniac.
What Nathan Wants by Ruth Ann Nordin Omaha Series Book 2 Nathan Rudolph has all the material things money can buy. He owns a travel business and now it's time to have a baby to pass his legacy on to. So he needs to find a wife and where better to look then his single female employees. When average Amy Watson comes into his office he knows she is the right one. Too bad she disagrees with him. Good thing he's optimistic and don't give up easily because he has a challenge to face with winning Amy.
Amy enjoys her job and it looks like she is being called into the bosses office for an interview for a promotion, and she did not even ask for one. When he comes to tell her she is the one he chose, it is for his wife not a job promotion. The man thinks he can get what he wants without caring what she thinks and he plays dirty to get his way. Things like getting her parents on his side and her best friend Danielle is loving the idea of Amy having all that money to spend. Amy cannot be bought and does not want to be used just to have a child but could there be more to the bossy Mr. Rudolph then meets the eye? **Sexual Situations within marriage.
It's kind of creepy that the hero is a sociopath who sees nothing wrong with forcing some woman who doesn't even know him to marry him, and then patronisingly treats her like a hysterical female when she dares to dispute her forced marriage to his awesome, obscenely rich self.
This could've been a comedic "dense macho male" scenario but I find it is just cringe inducing in terms of how delusionally obtuse he is. Selective hearing and thinking "no" means "yes".
I didn't even get to the "good" part where I'm assuming he stops being such a patronising psycho because the story irritated me that much.
This book had me in stitches. I loved the dialogue interplay between the hero and the heroine, and the subordinate characters. What a way Ruth Ann Nordin has with words! I thoroughly enjoyed this quaint love story. Guys, don't try this at home, but readers, enjoy the fun and the romance. Another great book! What a fun romance movie this book would make. I'd love to see Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock play the lead roles.
The writing was better in this one, but the ridiculousness was still there.
Rant: Nathan was an ass for most of the book, and the h was a whimp for allowing herself to be controlled by him. Amy's (the h) "friend" (Danielle)was a shallow, money grubbing leech. I was pissed off for most of the book and did not enjoy the "romance" or the "humor."
I skimmed a lot hoping the H would grovel or in some way pay for his actions. Unfortunately that didn't happen.
Criticism: The transition from hating to falling in love with him was too abrupt. Continuity needs to be corrected- Rudolph's travel agency's policy states Nathan cannot be married to an employee. Amy was fired when marrying Nathan, yet was able to go back to work for him. I truly didn't care about the H or h.
Several weeks ago I read What Nathan Wants, written by Ruth Ann Nordin, an independent author. I would like to say that Nathan doesn’t fit the stereotypical male of what he wants, he expects to get. I would like to say that, but I can’t. He’s a guy who operates under the mantra, “If I want it, it’s mine.” Nathan Rudolf is a wealthy travel agency owner in Omaha, Nebraska, who brings his business decision skills into play when it comes to whom to marry and have a family. The heroine, Amy Watson, is a woman who is content to keep her world on an even keel. She isn’t looking for a relationship, a husband, or a family.
Nathan uses an old-fashioned ploy, plus enlisting her family and friends, to force Amy out of her world. In response, Amy takes a strong stand for herself to help Nathan realize that marriage isn’t a business. A contemporary romance with a familiar plot line, What Nathan Wants is a quick read that moves at a good pace. Overall, the book is a pleasurable read. The characters are believable and likable, except for the villainess, but who ever likes her? The ending chapters are happily-ever-after, but include real life, too. The author self-describes the book as rated R. Don’t let that stop you from reading this book. The few scenes of married intimacy can easily be skipped by clicking NEXT PAGE a couple of times.
Nathan's sure he can have anything he wants if he just arranges all the details right. He's determined that Amy will be the perfect wife...and mother. Now he just has to get her to see past her anger at him for marrying her by proxy. One of my favorite Ruth Nordin books even if the premise is a bit far reaching.
The book had me in stiches. The choice of words of ruth ann makes the book worth the read. The romance and the comedy blend well together to give us an intersting read. I really loved reading the book.
I am a HUGE fan of Ruth Ann Nordin. WHAT NATHAN WANTS didn't dissapoint. It reminded me how much I enjoyed a funny and entertaining read. I recommend it highly.
Nathan is a monster and Amy definitely has a problem. She let a sociopath take her compete life away from her because she’s attracted to him, gives her a kid and has money. And the whole time she’s experiencing emotional pain and panic he’s enjoying it. He likes to see people he controls squirm. Another thing is that her ‘best friend’ Danielle is not a friend, all she cares about is being a leach, she doesn’t care that a control freak has taken everything from Amy and is forcing her to be his wife. Straight up Amy should’ve immediately gone straight to a lawyer for an annulment and reported Nathan for fraud and sexual harassment. How could she ever trust him after all he took from her? (Freedom, work and home) And then in the next book he proceeds to play God with his close friends’ life forcing him and his friend into a similar situation. Maybe if the author had had Amy teach Nathan the error of his ways instead of letting him get everything he ever wanted then the last book would’ve been readable but Nathan is still the same monster as he’s always been. How could a female author write this?!

In spite of several eye rolls, this was a fun and entertaining story that wouldn't let me go. I wasn't sure if I even liked any of these characters for most of the book. But like Nathan' s secretary, I kept waiting for Amy to kill him. A nicely paced romcom with a sweet happy-ever-after.
This book was hilarious! I loved each and every character. Nathan was something else! He and Amy together were a a great combination. If you want a feel good book. This is the one.
Very different from other books by Ruth Ann Nordin. And very different idea/concept.
Love how the characters interact, but some how a little confused on the turn-around of both Narhan & Amy - why the lower star rating.
I didn't look at publication date, but would guess this is one of her earlier books. She has done better on others clearing up any confusion we might have...
Another wonderful story from Ruth Ann Nordin. From what I have read, she is one of my favorite authors when it comes to imaginative story line. This story is no different. Who thinks about interviewing for a wife in this day and age? This of course, led into some interesting interactions ...
I enjoyed this story and apart from a couple loving moments was entirely clean. I recommend to anyone 13+.
Omg I loved this book! Nathan is so goofy, funny, clueless and all in all a great character! Loved him.
Poor Amy..you can't help but feel sorry for her...but think she is so lucky at the same time.
This book had me laughing through out. I loved all of the characters actually. The story line was comical, well written, and romantic but also so out of character it made it a true joy to read.
Totally ridiculous –the only reason I am continuing reading this is because I just finished reading A Famous Heroine by Mary Balogh, which reads like an over the top gag reel. So, it put me in the right mindset to read this non-sense. I would not recommend this to anyone who is not ready to roll their eyes and overlook it’s ah…er…. “fantastic” plot.
A hilariously light read. I just loved Nathan's character. He was so funny yet insightful. I've read many marriage of connivence books but I can honestly say this one had me laughing the most. It's such a lite story that you can't help but love it. I also enjoyed how frustrated Amy was in the beginning yet still able to hold her own.
Ruth Ann Nordin has done it again. I loved this book. I found it amusing. I read some reviews on here before hand and some people did not like it bc of the situation. But I found it an very interesting way to go about it. Not knowing if it would work or not until the end. I was sad to see Nathan and Amy go. :)
Really funny, crazy and good story. Fantastic extra characters, hilarious conversations. If you take it with a bit if tongue and cheek and accept it's a totally unrealistic situation then it's fine. Nathan's attitude is hilarious, Amy tries really hard to put him in his place and shows back bone.
The novel was a bit whacked, I mean seriously? Marriage by proxy? At first I couldn't stand the hero, I wanted to see him in the grave by the dump. Then as things progress, it was good, definitely. I thought the novel was boring in a lot of parts though, so it drive me a bit batty.
Hmmmm. This isn't the sort of book I normally go for, and I really can't remember what made me download it! It's entertaining enough I suppose, but poorly written and not really believable. It's also very predictable. A good holiday read maybe, as it doesn't require much thinking about.
I enjoyed the characters and the story but it didn't work for me so much. I thought it a tad unrealistic and thought Amy was kind of stupid. Who wouldn't immediately go to a lawyer if some guy married you without your consent?
