Spain has a complicated history and diversified culture and art; it was the first unified central monarchy country in Europe and a maritime power, but gradually declined later. After Franco's dictatorship in the 1930s, Spain was very isolated and was more and more poor and backward, almost forgotten by the world. In 1975, Franco died and the King Juan Carlos took over the reins, opening a new page in the history of Spain.
