Simple but practical recomendations for financial happiness and savings.
The secret to financial happiness is simple, but it isn’t always easy to put into practice. At its most basic, it’s about saving your money – whether by reducing your expenses or putting a set amount into a high-yield account every month. Thankfully, you can achieve this. By reducing your fixed costs, such as your car expenses, giving some thought to your insurance policies and living frugally, you can soon start to amass a healthy stash of money. If you’re then savvy about managing your cash, and invest extra wealth in stock, you can put your money to work for you. Done right, you’ll have not just enough for a comfortable life but enough to last you through retirement, too

I guess most of us don't see finances as important as they are until we hit a wall and experience it. Books like this could at the very least give us awareness of that ahead of time, if not too practical solutions.
This one's worth one read at least, though I'm going to find some more books on the subject later on.

Financial stability is the most important thing which has to be faced by each and every person. Most people don't realize it till their 30s that financial planning is important as well.
Jonathan beautifully explains the gravity of compounding. He also explains why it is utmost important to start investing as soon as possible. Age is never less when it comes to investments.
The author has also mentioned a few ways of investment. He claims that use risky methods to invest while you are young because you still have a larger risk appetite. As you move towards the seniority in age, start moving towards the low-risk investments.
Take insurance policies wisely. Research well.
Overall, this book is a great package of investment ideas and deals. Most importantly, the importance of investing.

Financial stability. To say that everyone wants it would be to point out the painfully obvious. But too often it can seem like a distant dream. In reality, though, the desire to have enough money to lead a comfortable life – and enough to see you through retirement – is fulfillable. It’s also probably a lot easier to achieve than you think.
In this book-in-blinks, we’ve boiled From Here to Financial Happiness ’s 77 chapters down to their essentials. You’ll learn what it takes to set you on the path to not just earning more, but making yourself secure as you do so. It might seem overwhelming, but break down the task into its components and it really isn’t so scary.

I rate three stars but then I don’t think I quite read the book the way it is intended. As it is, it gives you a bit of personal finance advice every day. The idea, I think, is that you are supposed to then do some additional research and then examine your own assets and see if you should make any adjustments. Perhaps if used in that way it would make for a great guide in setting your positions well. I just read, and in that manner it was very dense, and also didn’t offer details that a novice like myself would need. For example, there were a few sections on optimizing across stocks and bonds, but knowing nothing about bonds or bond markets, I couldn’t really understand—a primer on bonds would have been welcomed; I guess you are supposed to do that research on your own.
Nonetheless I imagine I will be leading through this one again in the future.

This is a good book for people who want to improve their financial position and do so in a step-by-step, but not so systematic way. The tone is conversational in nature, and while it’s very US-specific in its prescription, gives a little bit more information about certain terms and ideas enough for you to search for equivalent things in your own country.
Think of it as having coffee and chatting with a financial mentor over 77 days. The author suggests that it be worked through slowly, and I have to admit: if you have the time, it should be treated like you would a nice cup of coffee—small, meaningful sips over time while reflecting between each one.

A quick read/listen. Very reasonable advice. Not nearly as draconian as some and definitely more realistic than most. The author, who also manages the website www.Humbledollar.com, had a weekly column with Wall Street Journal. Each "day's" assignment is totally reasonable and all major personal finance topics are covered. You could do much worse with other financial advice floating around out there. A great place to start. Similar to Jim Collins "Simple path to wealth" but more comprehensive. A new college graduate could certainly do worse.

I read this book at the perfect timing. Sometimes I question whether I’m being too frugal or impulsive with purchases. From this text, I confirmed that balance is key (as with most things). Save money. Reduce fixed costs (ie. car expense) and put your money to work for you. Automate your monthly payments (especially, credit card payments that can negatively affect your credit). The goal is make your money last you through your retirement.

Helpful tips, easier said than done, about the importance of putting aside enough money to lead a comfortable life. Basically if we save money, by reducing expenses, fixed costs like insurance, and investing in stock, or putting a certain amount into a high-yield account on a monthly basis, we can have financial happiness.

Most of this book consists of anodyne personal finance advice. But it also includes some downright bad advice, such as taking out a home equity loan to pay off credit card debt. The author seems skeptical of Wall Street (and fair enough), but his skepticism doesn’t extend to the debt/credit industry. I’d give this a pass and go with Dave Ramsey instead.

What should be a digestible book ended up falling short, as it doesn't know who its audience truly is. It swings wildly between beginner advice into complex advice. It also assumes that you have money and/or will have money - which is not a reality for most people to the degree that Jonathan Clements imagines.

Clements is on my short list of best personal finance writers.
This book is practical and easy to understand.
As a financial advisor, there are times my advice to clients would go further than his, but you can trust what he writes.

This book has really good advice on how to approach and think about savings and preparing for retirement. It also gives advice on how to find a financial advisor for your specific situation. I learned a lot.

Aside from the extraordinary page padding, this very brief work provides some good general guidelines for novice and/or uninformed savers.

The book was just repetitive for 77 chapters. I reach chapter just said save money. Don’t buy stuff.

I’ve been a long-time reader of the author’s work back in the day in the WSJ and now on his blog Humble Dollar and monthly podcast Down the Middle. So why only 3 stars for this book? For me, the book was just at too basic a level based on my level of investing knowledge and experience. I think it’s a good book for 20- and 30-somethings getting started with personal finance, or perhaps even someone a little older who has lacked the educational opportunity or good role models to learn how to achieve financial independence.
