Coming at us from the Gatesville Primary Library, a book from 1998 on Cats. This one had a repeating pattern at the beginning of each section, which was good for a beginning reader. She definitely stayed interested.
Okay, here's another attempt to get Deacon to realize that cats require special attention and not rough housing. Fortunately, he is a lot better with the cat now, for those of you who were worried. *crickets*
Anyway, this was a great, if not a bit old, nonfiction cat book. It talked about how cats were different from people. It said "Cats" so many times that I started to teach it to Deacon. I would point at the word and ask him what it said, and he knew c-a-t-s was cats. I even tried to trick him a couple of times because he just started saying "cats" whenever I paused instead of looking at it and reading it. It only worked once and then he read it.
So, simple enough for a four year old, with real pictures of real cats.
