A short rather entertaining though not flawless introduction to Cockney rhyming slang.

The book appealed to me as although my dad moved from Hackney when he was only seven days old to Southend, him and his family were immersed in the rhythms and culture of Cockney rhyming slang, mixed with Yiddish.

Given that, I grew up with Cockney rhyming slang being used by my dad regularly so knew a few words and phrases and this book helped me explore it all more.

Not a bad little collection. Even my British workmates (a few Cockneys in the mix) also agreed it's a good introduction for a novice such as myself. What I also found interesting is that some of the expressions are now rather mainstream in British English, some of them even having made their way across the Atlantic.

It's a fun little book that works as a reference that is admittedly one of the more useful bits of travel shopping I've done. Now I use it to interject some interesting things into streams. If you find a copy, it's worth it for a few pounds.

A fun little guide book and translator to cockney slang but no matter what don’t try and do the accent you will get hit.
