John Wesley is recognized as the founder of Methodism. An acclaimed preacher, Wesley travelled extensively on horseback and drew large crowds for his outdoor sermons. I have long been a fan of John Wesley's writings. He was so saturated in scripture that his sermons are basically verses woven together, which is why they never get old. I was pleased to see a book that provides bite-sized pieces of his theology so that you don't have to be a seminary student to read him. This book makes Wesley's sermons more accessible, but it is never "fluffy".

How important is it for me to find this kind of topic so I can refresh my soul and focus on the things that matter? John Wesley truly helped to do so. If you feel you need to stop and consider this might be the book for you. May God speak to your life.

I read this book because I am a United Methodist. Finished it to see if I would find the devotionals interesting. They are from sermons that he wrote. Did not find many of them to be informational in the way that I wanted them to be.

I really enjoyed reading these sermons from John Wesley. Many of the readings are sermons spread over several days so that each reading is short enough to be a quick inspirational reading.

Wesley's writings, broken up into manageable bits. Great for personal devotional time. I really enjoyed engaging with Wesley for a full year.

Composed of daily vignette-like entries that are written with a heart and a voice that speak truly of the glory of God, this one of the books that I usually pick up in the morning to go with the breakfast. :) Because what else is a better way to start a day aside from starting it with God?

Spurgeon shares some excerpts from his other works and sermons in a heartfelt way, giving inspiration to anyone who reads the book, connecting them to God by extending his hand as a faithful brethren to the readers. I can read this year after year and I think I won't ever get tired.

Awesome daily devotional. Charles Spurgeon offers wisdom with ample amounts of grace filled admonition. Devotions are from exerpts from Spurgeon's most treasured sermons and writings. Spurgeon is a definite author for God, he communicates the Lord's heart in a way that I imagine pleases the Most High; expressing truthfilled love and concern for us His children.

This work takes the writings of John Wesley and divides them up into daily reflections on a verse of scripture. A brief biography of John Wesley begins the book. The list of works sited groups together the references according to the dates in the book. The scriptural reference int eh back is helpful.
