This book is based on the tape-record of an address given by Swami Ranganathnanda at a luncheon meeting to a cosmopolitan gathering organized in his honour by Smt. & Shri Velji Kothari of Tokyo, in the lecture hall of the American Club, Tokyo, on 7th May, 1986. Originally, this book was published by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai-400 007 in three editions. This is a revised edition of the book.
Swami Ranganathananda (1908–2005), born Shankaran Kutty, was a Hindu monk of the Ramakrishna Math order. He served as the 13th president of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
WONDERFUL book - Liked the way to the gradation that Swamiji puts. First individuality, where you recognise that you are individual who is different from the surroundings, achieving expression and then a Personality where you develop in relation to mingling & contributing to society. It is in the Personality the aspects that religion aids. He drives the view points from a child's growth. Instead of the typical moralistic, religious view of growth of children, Swamiji emphasis the evolutionary aspects of human life and explains how religion plays a role in it.
EXcellent line :
"So qualitative enrichment and fulfilment are the primary goals of human evolution, while mere organic satisfactions, numerical increase, and organic survival become secondary."
