The photos in this introduction to Earth and its place in the solar system are fantastic. The text also does a good job explaining what makes an Earth day and an Earth year. While a glossary is provided, for beginning readers, I prefer to see the definition woven into the main text itself. I also think it's useful to provide analogies for children when referring to large distances: for example, 238,900 miles (384,000) kilometers is the distance between Earth and the moon, but what does this really mean to a child?
