Geronimo's adventurous sister Thea is taking the publishing world by storm in this fabumouse tale packed with action, mystery, and friendship.
In this exciting adventure, the Thea Sisters are off to Japan on a cultural exchange program. While they're busy exploring Kyoto and admiring the beautiful cherry blossoms, a valuable doll is stolen from a wealthy Japanese collector. Will the five mice be able to track down the doll and catch the thief? Readers will love following the clues to help the Thea Sisters solve the mystery.
This is the review of my 7 year old daughter Sydney.
Who is in the Book: This book has Thea, Nicky, Colette, Violet, Paulina, Pamela. They are all sisters (and mice). Their friends Kumi and Holger are also in the book.
Where does the Story take place: It takes place in Tokyo, Japan
What Happens in the Story: The story is about the sisters and their trip to Japan. While they are there, Kumi's father is kidnapped by ninja's and the sisters try and rescue him!
Why I liked the book: I liked this book because it was a lot longer than the other books that I have read. This one had 162 pages! It had words that were harder for me to read. A lot of the hard words were drawn differently so I knew they were coming up. This book was more challenging for me to read. I liked the Thea sisters and liked that they talked to each other a lot. Colette and Violet were my favourites. Colette's favourite colour is pink (and so is mine) and Violet had the easiest name to read. I really liked that they could fight and tried to fight the ninjas. I liked that there are mysterious things in the story. Some of the things that happen make you say "WHOA" because they were really surprising.
Why should you read this: You should read this book because it will help you get better at reading. If you like mice this is a good book for you to read. You will also like this book if you like to read about ninja's.
DAD'S NOTES:
This is a more challenging book for you grade 2/3 reader. I really liked that the harder words were highlighted in different colours and different fonts. It was easier for my daughter to point out the words she had trouble reading. The book has fashion, action, friendship and intrigue. There is plenty to like for readers of all types.
They go to Japan my country, and they find a new friend called Kumi. Her father has the dool of the princess but it was STOLEN!!!! So they try to get it. They were able to do it! Yes!
These books are great for kids but, unlike some children's books, do not translate well for adult readers. None of the Thea Sisters are developed well and despite the fun fonts and pictures, the books end up really boring me. I read this book out loud to second graders and, while they enjoyed it, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a read aloud. It doesn't roll off the tongue like some other books - anything by Roald Dahl is gold. Overall, great for kids 3rd-4th as independent reads, but not so great for adults looking to read books that will connect them to young readers and also entertain.
I would like to give this book a 4 and a half star because I liked their adventure in Japan but I didn't like the part when Mr. Nakamura gets ratnapped in front of everyone while they were watching the cherry blossoms. There were many people there but no one came for their help! But I always liked the traditional cloth called kimono and other traditional ceremonies of Japan.
I thought this was a very delightful story and how a group of friends are to gesture to help a mystery in a state around the world I thought the Thea Stilton books are a great way to show some stuff around the world!
This was the first Thea Stilton book I have read and there wasn't much Thea Stilton in it. The story was about the "Thea Sisters" instead. A group of teenage girls who are friends with Thea and admire her so much they call themselves the Thea Sisters. The girls visit a Japanese school where they meet and become best friends with a Japanese student. A kidnapping, a theft and a betrayal set the stage for heartwarming reconciliation between father and daughter. In the end, the kidnapper, the thief and the betrayal are rectified and they all live happily ever after.
I like the Thea Stilton series for the same reasons I like Geronimo Stilton, the books contain cultural information and a wonderful array of vocabulary words. My students love the graphic novel-esque feel to the books. The down side to these books is that they are written in a format method. After a couple of the books I am bored. This Thea Stilton book did not excite me as much as I thought it would. Still, for third and fourth grade reading ability the books will hold the interest and students may actually learn something while they read!
If you're a Nihonophile like me, you want a work set in Japan to portray the most accurate representation as possible if there isn't a good reason as to why it would be changed. Unfortunately, this book saw fit to homogenize Tōkyō (and yes, it's spelled with lines over the Os) into one sort of "flavor." Gone are the distinctions between nerd culture capital Akihabara, shopping district Shibuya, deeply-religious Ōsu, and the other uniquely-"flavored" parts of Tōkyō, instead opting for portraying it as one homogenous area. Dami's view of Japan seems to be pretty in the past; save for the Shinkansen, little seems to be mentioned of Japan's status as an electronics giant, and they have to deal with NINJAS in MODERN DAY JAPAN. An anachronism that would normally be awesome ruined because they're trying to recover some dude's bunraku puppet collection. Wow, it's so exciting that not even a Battledome commercial could get that worked up about it! In case you couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic about how exciting this is. Don't buy it if you want your kid interested in Japan...
This one was so good! And the illustrations were so gorgeous and mind-blowing. This dealt with dreams (work wise) and how parents play a big role in it. I can totally relate to this issues. So, I really liked the way they handled it. It was very well put out and taught of. I love the setting in which the Tea Sisters are in. Japan is a very beautiful place. I got to see and learn about Japan thanks to this book. This book was a fun adventure while being educational.
it was ok, i wish i could've liked it more, but overall it was ok, i think i am growing from this series, not sure if to continue the books. i am not at all saying these books are bad or anything like that but i guess i just dont find it that interesting anymore.
The Thea sisters head off to Japan for a cultural exchange program. In Japan, the girls meet a new friend named Kumi. The girls visited a festival and there some suspicious residents wearing dark clothes and masks appeared. They kidnapped Mr.Nakamura, Kumi’s father. The girls track the kidnappers down trying to save Mr Nakamura.
The main characters are the Thea Sisters. Nicky, is very adventurous. Colette, loves fashion and is very bubbly. Violet is very organised, calm and loves tea. Paulina is very smart and knowledgeable and loves travelling. Paulina loves pizza and is amazing at solving mechanical problems.
This story is very adventurous and mysterious. This book has amazing pictures and highlights fascinating words. Meeting a new girl Kumi really made the story interesting.
I love the graphics of this novel and the plot. The story is very interesting and engaging. The book is very colourful which engages children to read this book. This book had many twists and is a wonderful book to read.
The book, in my opinion, doesn’t have anything I dislike. This book was not one of the best Thea Stilton books out there, it did not excite me as I thought the book would, it still was a great story to read.
I would indeed recommend this book to a young audience. This book is very thrilling and is exceptional story to read.
⭐⭐⭐⭐4/5 Thea Stilton and the Cherry Blossom Adventure is a delightful blend of mystery, culture, and camaraderie. The story takes the Thea Sisters to Japan, where they find themselves amidst a whirlwind of cherry blossoms, ancient traditions, and an intriguing treasure hunt.
The vivid descriptions of Japanese culture and the blooming cherry blossoms transport the reader right into the heart of the adventure. Each Thea Sister brings her unique strengths to the story, making their teamwork both inspiring and entertaining. The mystery is engaging, with just the right balance of twists and lighthearted moments to keep younger readers captivated.
What stood out most to me was how the book weaves cultural appreciation into its narrative, offering insights into Japanese traditions while maintaining a fun and fast-paced storyline. While the plot felt slightly predictable in parts, the charm of the characters and the lush setting more than made up for it.
Overall, Thea Stilton and the Cherry Blossom Adventure is a joy to read—a perfect pick for young readers who love travel, adventure, and a touch of mystery
My 6 year old has been reading this series obsessively since summer, and they have greatly developed her vocabulary, tickled her sense of humor, and and given her knowledge and increased awareness of other countries and cultures. As a bonding experience I decided to get this book in French to make it more interesting for me as an adult to learn some colloquial phrases and see how certain things translated, while she read it in English. The Geronimo Stilton series is impressive if only because it is so prolific. There is a lot of entertainment value here for young readers, but I will say it is not great children's literature; there is no lasting value or depth to these books, the characters are flat and there is no true exploration of things like emotions and relationships.
My daughter says she gives the books 5 stars because "the Thea Sisters are creative and they help each other."
Anything that gets my kid reading voraciously gets a few stars in my book.
“For Kumi’s Father, the Princess represents the Spirit of Bunraku,” added Holger seriously. “He would never agree to sell her!”
*REREAD at 2020*
There’s something wrong about this book and I have so many things to point out.
I can’t believe their chaperones and the rest haven’t realized what’s really going on with how the Thea Sisters handled their friend’s case in hiding whilst in the middle of a school activity. Like it’s too normal?
Also, anybody could have seen or heard them among the cherry blossoms since it’s such a crowded tourist spot to visit. Anyone can bring up 911 or warn the other netizens at any minute.
Lol. I’m not even surprised that the new friend easily accepts the fact that Kumi and the Thea Sisters are doing something dangerous and risky which was freakin’ hilarious.
But who cares? It’s still a fantastic solid adventure.
This book is just pure childhood for me. The whole Thea Stilton series including Geronimo Stilton is extremely nostalgic. But this was the one Thea Stilton book I owned and I remember always reading through it in the middle of the night under my blanket over and over again.
Recently I thought I would re-read it after years and even though this is a kids book it really surprised me how amused I was with this book. I especially like how all the 5 girls are so different in personality, which is portrayed really well in the books. Not only that is so special about the book series. It’s also super informative. This book gave multiple information about Japan, which was also interesting to read.
The book names “Thea Stilton and the cherry blossom adventure” ,written by Thea Stilton ,this is a story about Thea’s sister’s adventures. At the beginning of the story that Thea sisters went to Japan to study and met a new friend Kumi Nakamura .in the middle of the story that there were something wrong in Kumi family that her father had been kidnapped and Thea sisters wanted to help her. Finally that Mr.Ishikuro,Kumi’s father ‘s friend wanted to get “princess”but couldn’t get so he kidnap Kumi father ,Thea sisters found that and called the police to took his out. It’s very interesting ,the adventure is amazing, I love the books that Thea Stilton wrote...
I like this book, because there are lots of colourful pictures that can attract my attention. There are also bits of information sections throughout the book. In this book, the Thea Sisters went to japan on a cultural exchange program. The met new friends named Kumi and Sakura. But then Kumi’s father was kidnaped and a valuable item is also stolen from their family, and its up to them to solve the problem and catch the thief. The Thea Sisters are nice to everyone and can make friends easily. They never argue with each other and always work together. They are also adventurous and helpful. I admire them a lot.
It all started when the five mouse friends decided to go on a trip to Japan. In Japan they went to an academy and there they made a new friend named Kumi. In Japan every year they make a very colorful and fun festival. And to make the festival even more fun, they made a puppet at the event. They kept it in a very nice box so that it would be protected. The friends went on a very colorful bus and dressed very cool. When they arrived they were very excited and the father of Kumi arrived. Kui was very happy but the pope wanted to steal the puppet. So they managed to remove it and the Pope learned that he should not do it. Then they celebrated happily.
I have actually been searching for this book for quite a few years. I found it at my tuition, while looking for a book to read. The story like the rest in this series starts with Thea explaining what was happening at that moment. As usual, the different fonts and sizes make the pages more lively. The pictures are beautifully illustrated. The clues and writing style are very subtly hinting the plot of the story. Overall, it is a great book to read if you’re following the series.
For kids, this is such an awesome book. The 5-star rating is therefore, a rating I would had gave when I was 6 (?) or something. The fonts are really nice, and I remember just LOVING the Geronimo/Thea Stilton books so much when I was young. As a teenager now, rereading it ('cause it was on my shelf) I am hit with a wave of nostalgia. The memories!!
Read this children's book purely to get that nostalgic feeling. I was a huge fan of these books when I was younger, I remember thoroughly enjoying the mystery/detective aspect of it. I wanted to see if I could still enjoy it now... I appreciate the stories for what they are, but to me it's definitely not that fun anymore 😆
