One of pro basketball's legendary superstars recounts his long and colorful career, emphasizing the Knick's championship season of 1969 and detailing the haunting personal details of his life
Reading this book I felt as If I was a NBA player not only a NBA Player. I felt a connection with the other teammates and coaches Clyde had. All the hard work and routines everyday before game day felt as if that was me. You know those TikTok's where they say "get ready with me" then they do there skin care routine , eat , go to the store thats what this book felt like but in a way towards success. The success lead to winning games and potently winning a championship. I cant say if Walt Frazier and the Knicks won a championship or not but the hard work paid off. I would recommend this book to any athlete. It shows how much hard work you have to put in to make it pay off. Then repeat it. This book really showed the heart and desire of the New York Knicks. I'd say I don't dislike anything in the book. I dislike how the Knicks fell off after these years.
This is a well written (auto)biography. Frazier gives the reader and fan a inside look at his first NBA championship with the Knicks. Within the framework of that magical season, Frazier also tells of his youth, and lets us know his thoughts on the state of today's NBA and world. It's an interesting and entertaining read. Of course, keep in mind those Knicks were a favorite of mine. They were classy, team-oriented, DEFENSIVELY and offensively minded, and filled with great character guys like Willis Reed, Bill Bradley, Dave Debuscher (sp?) Dick Barnett and of course Walt "Clyde" Frazier. It's a solid read for any NBA fan and probably most sports fans.
Really enjoyed reading this book. Brought back memories of when I was a kid and the NBA wasn't what it has become today, a huge business. Clyde is the man! Great book to learn about what it was like to have a winning basketball team in NY, unlike the last couple of decades...
Loved hearing Walt’s perspective of life on and off the court and it was very easy to connect to both sides of that. A bit more climactic writing for the finals is all I could ask for.
Reads just like Walt is talking to you. All the charm and enjoyment he provides as color commentator for the Knicks shines through. It's enjoyable literary candy.
