I can't believe no one else has read this book -- I used to make my dad read it to me every night. The story takes place at Halloween, and is about a girl who gets sick and can't attend the Halloween party, when suddenly, a broomstick appears outside her window. And she hops on, of course. The language is a little stilted, but so much of the story feels familiar -- not just because I've heard the story dozens of times, but because I remember the smell of the vaporizer the author describes, or love that her mom cut breakfast-in-bed oranges to look like Jack-o-lanterns. It's just a simple, lovely story that still makes me smile.
Truly one of my favorite childhood reads....still bring it out around Halloween and enjoy its' story all over. Brings back great memories of cuddling up and poring over every page!! Loved the cat, especially!
