Meet me - David – a jittery student nurse who thought entering a roommate carer scheme was a brilliant idea. Meet Ryan – skate-punk extraordinaire with a penchant for chucking himself off vert ramps. In his wheelchair. Oh Lordy, that's got to hurt.

Nerves has been one of the first unpublished works that I started reading and has remained ever since one of my favorites. Beware if you’re interested in reading that it’s incomplete and most likely won’t be finished. Still, in my opinion it’s worth your time.
I loved both David and Ryan together and separately . And even though it seems improbable that a relationship between them could function given their individual problems ,it does and most of all it seems real. Crazily enough but it does.
Of course the story it’s not perfect( what story is ?!) and it sucks that it does not have a ending but it does have something really important in my opinion: the ability to make you feel what they’re feeling.
A really emotional and beautiful story…..Oh Lordy :)

This story has gotten a lot of attention and has been pretty darn popular, for good reason. It's genuinely funny and heartbreaking, and just plain entertaining. On the other hand, it's also incomplete and hasn't been updated in more than a year, so I'm not really holding my breath on that anymore. But even as much as I hate, and I mean HATE incomplete fic, I'm still glad I took the time to read this one.

So the story centers around a student nurse who's just moved away from London in order to get over a trauma that occurred there. He moves in with another student: a wheelchair-bound punk skater kid. The student nurse is a real goody-goody, flamboyant type, while the skater is a real sarcastic/daredevil type. It's great. Good writing, clever/witty/funny dialogue, unique characters, compelling/emotional plot. Also, the portrayal of a disabled major character is really unique in this story for two big reasons: 1) It actually seems realistic, taking into account all the harsh and difficult challenges faced in a situation like this, and 2) No one is depressed about the disability. (It's definitely not like the typical "disabled character" story where the guy was in a car wreck and broke his legs and is on the road to recovery. The guy in this story has a permanent condition, and has adapted. And no one is whining about it!)

Anyway, I very much enjoyed reading this one, even in its incomplete state. I think I found it from the list of Memorable Fic Rec Entries over at the Slash Pile, so if you are looking for some more recommendations of quality slashfic, I'd check that out.

"Unless it's that room right there, with 123 nailed to the door. Oh Lordy. Slight premature reaction there David. I think I should calm down now before somebody calls the drama police."

No, don't bother, let me call the drama snipers and take you out of your misery because I can't stand your complaining anymore....

I am going to have a seizure if he says: "Lordy" one more time...I swear to God.....

I'd have liked to punch the narrator's face after the first few paragraphs, because his jitters were maddening. Thankfully I gave the story time to develop for while and then I came to understand and like him.

My only problem with this novel is that it's unfinished - and it breaks of at a crucial point of the story.

It's great story, but it ends in the middle of things and I don't really see it getting finished. It's not a real cliffhanger or anything, but it's not an ending either. I'm not a big fan of those.
