One of the best reference books ever! Amazon and Powells have basically come along to "replace" this sort of resource on the internet but I still love this book. Aside from science and political books, most everything I read is 40 to 50 years (or older) anyway so this book will always have a place on my shelf and in my heart. I especially love the illustrations, timelines, commentaries, and little snippets of texts. It saddens me to think that another edition will never be published...

It's a marvelous book, but I definitely don't need it anymore. Well, not unless someone breaks the internet.
