I have read close to 15 books written by and about the POW's in Vietnam. This is a good book, but there are better ones out there. Vohden repeats himself numerous times when describing day to day routines which gets a little annoying at times. It is a good accounting of what a POW's daily life was like including the not so bad and bad things. (There were no good things) My other complaint about this book is that he tries to play both sides of a situation. At the start of a paragraph he will complain about a certain prisoner but then at the end of the paragraph he makes excuses for that POW. I also get frustrated that Vohden (and a few other POW's in their books) will not name the POW's that gave in to the Vietnamese without being tortured or beaten. If they violated the Code of Conduct they should be called out publicly for it in my opinion.

Fascinating. The reader is presented with enough detail and information to make this book a worthy and important addition to the POW narrative.
