I read this large paperback book so many times as a child.
Back in the early 70's I was amazed to hear of sports such as Shinty, Eton Fives and Carom Billiards. Furthermore, I was astounded that, not only did these sports exist, but people actually played them and that they had governing bodies.
You must remeber that this was when UK TV barely had 3 channels that did not start till mid-morning and was finished before midnight; sport - apart from World of Sport, Grandstand and Sportsnight - didn't feature much on TV. So to be exposed to hundreds of sports at a youg age allowed my imagination to run wild.
We had great fun manufacturing facsimilie sports equipment, leaarning the rules and then playing the games for ourselves.
Great for the classroom library. This is an encyclopedia of all major sports in the world. This is great for the sports lovers in the classroom and also teaches the students about other sports/how to play/and the rules.
