He came for the blood of his enemy, but took me instead.
Andrei Kozlov. Ruthless head of the notorious Kozlov crime family. A tattooed, seductive monster, as dangerous as he is beautiful.
When he catches me escaping from his rival’s clutches, I pray he’s going to be my savior—but Andrei is no one’s savior.
Held captive at his palatial estate, he uses me as a pawn, training me as a spy to uncover his family’s ugly secrets.
All I want is my freedom, but the more I fight him, the more he demands of me—body, mind and soul.
With each passing day, my hatred for Andrei transforms into something truly dangerous—an insatiable hunger for his touch. Every stolen moment draws me in further, his every command a siren call that I can’t resist. But the deeper we go, the thornier the path becomes.
If I don’t free myself from his grasp soon, he’ll send me to my death. Even if it destroys us both.
The Kozlov Empire is a series of interconnected standalone romance books about the sexy, morally gray, Kozlov brothers. The books don't need to be read in order but it's way more fun if you do! This series has no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Monica Kayne is a TV producer turned proud romance writer. She writes dark and swoony romance novels with a liberal dose of sass and humor.
Her favorite characters to write are sweetly possessive bad boys and the feisty, smart-mouthed heroines that they can’t resist.
When she’s not dreaming up sexy plots, she can be found searching for the perfect negroni and her next K-drama fix. She lives with her family in Toronto, Canada.
A nice suspenseful mafia romance read. Some things were farfetched, especially Georgia’s training in such a short period of time and how she managed to be the “hero” in the end. Regardless the twists and turns, it was mostly predictable yet well written. I enjoyed it but wasn’t enthralled.
"I don't bother looking back or saying goodbye. My entire focus is on the place where Andrei's hand meets my body. His touch burning with heat, a live wire between us. Good god. What have I got myself into?"
Georgia was never meant to be mixed up in this world of crime. To keep her father and his restaurant safe, she dives in - first agreeing to serve a notorious crime leader, and then eventually agreeing to act as a pawn for the men who kidnapped her. The further she dives in, the more she realizes she is in too deep, entangling herself in a war between crime families and in bed with her kidnapper, Andrei Kozlov. Both fight to get what they want - Georgia her freedom, Andrei revenge - but they cannot fight the heat between each other.
I devoured this book. It was dark, but was also somehow fun and lighthearted with the author's writing style. The spice scenes were out of this world, two off the top of my head that will go into the memory bank. And I am pretty sure Russian bad boys may be my new thing...
This book is on its way to a 5-star read. Obviously I enjoyed the book, but I think the chemistry between the two main characters lacked a little in the beginning, as did the development of the side characters. I just wanted a little more to really suck me in to make me feel truly invested.
With that being said, I did already download the bonus epilogue and whole-heartedly look forward to getting to know the Kozlov brothers more in the books to come!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for me to review!

❥ 𝑮𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒂 She‘s confident and strong, but also knows how to pick her fights. I liked the way she acts and could relate to her.
❥ 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒊 Big, grumpy bratva boss with a soft sport for his captive? Check.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 I enjoyed reading this book. It’s an easy read with a good writing style. The plot was okay - nothing special, but not bad. The story entertained me and I really like the characters. Andreis brothers were funny and Andrei himself was hopeless in love with Georgia. It‘s a quick read and I think it was good. The plottwist was kinda unexpected but the rest of the book was predictable.
This was really a pleasant surprise 😁. Going into the book I didn't expect much. This book can be a proper example of "Don't judge a book by the initial few chapters" because reading the first few chapters i thought it is going to be one of those casual insta lust mafia romance where the mafia man kidnaps her and is dominant with her then she becomes instantly putty for him. No, this was something entirely different. A suspenseful, spy and mafia romance ❤️🔥
Andrei and Georgia meet in not so safe situations where she is trying to escape from the clutches of a monster and lands up being caught and taken by Andrei. The story mainly begins from the point where the H doesn't want to kill h but asks her to be a spy to save whatever is at stake for her. After which it's basically a rollercoaster ride of Angst, an unwanted attraction, trying to run away from each other but not succeeding, and ending up so tangled with each other that they can't hurt each other or let go of each other. I guess everyone knows a HEA is guaranteed but how they reach there, is what's captivating.
🎨 Strong and intelligent female lead. He trains her😌 🎨 Mafia H with a softie heart for her 🎨 Spy plot with some decent plot twists 🎨 Found family 🎨 Angsty 🎨 brotherhood 🎨 FMC who knows what she is doing and won't hesitate twice before protecting herself and her family
Safe. There is a scene where the H is trying to do it with someone else just to get away from his crazy attraction towards the h but it never happens. He realises no one could excite him anymore but his Krasotka🩷👀. HEA.
ARC Review: Andrei Is the head of the Kozlov, like any head of the mafia is his ruthless, strong and manipulative. He believes when he does marry it will be for a purpose and not a love match. Him and his brothers had a traumatic experience when they were young and that had a big impact on why Andrei didn’t want a love match for when he married.. but then during an attack on his enemy he meet Georgia.
Georgia got wrapped up with the mafia because he father took a loan from the wrong person. So she ends up work for the mafia to help repay his debt. She is a feisty and smart women, who doesn’t know what she is really capable of. That is until Andrei takes her from his enemy and decides to train her.
The electric charge between Andrei and Georgia is off the charts! They both want to resist each other but they both seem to have this magnetic pull towards each other. Once they stop fighting the inevitable sparks fly!! There are definitely some great steamy moments in this book. Andrei 🥵🔥.
I can’t wait to read about Daniil in the next book! I very much enjoyed him as a character!!
This is my first story by Monica Kayne and I look forward to reading more by her. Merciless Heir was well written with lovable characters and ruthless villains. There were some very intense moments but the hot and passionate ones were my favourites. This couple was kindred spirits and the attraction immediate and off the charts. I look forward to reading more about these brothers ♥️
Ummmmmmm… this book is no better or worse than majority of the mafia books out there. It’s probably a 2.5 star. But, I liked them, the kozlovs! So I rounded it up to a 3. I’ll say some stuff just fucking did not make sense. Like wtf you big brawling boys, weren’t thorough enough. And if she’s that good, how’d Oleg catch her. Also boys, seriously rookie move! Don’t fucking go in so unprepared! Anyway for all the mehs. I loved the brothers, and I fucking loved Georgia. It’s a rare one where you like FMC even more! She was fucking perfect, I think this is the first time a fully non- mafia member ended up going full Lara Croft by the end and even killed the main bad guy! Fucking beautiful. Was it completely far-fetched that she got so good so quickly? Abso-fucking-lutely. But when we don’t bat an eyelid when every MMC has the largest cock ever, and every FMC manages to deep-throat it without much trouble. Then why can’t our suspension of disbelief extend this far? Also should I start Krav Maga?

Again, this type of story only works in books and when the guy is rich AND gorgeous.
Nevertheless, I adore these Mafia stories and I am excited for the other brothers. But I think Andrei is already my favourite. Georgia was also really cool and I liked how she became more confident.
Who doesn’t love a hot, dangerous, (very) dominant Russian man that loves books and collects art? Well guys, I have found myself a new book husband in Andrei Kozlov and he kept me up aaaaall night🤤! What 👏🏼a 👏🏼ride!
This book has lots of action, just enough suspense, a LOT of spice and all the feels. The banter and the burn between Georgia and Andrei is *chef’s kiss* 👌🏻👌🏻
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝:
🪆Andrei Kozlov for everything he is 🤤 🪆Georgia’s sassiness but also her strength. I always love a strong, smart and brave FMC. 🪆The dual POV (especially Andrei’s... *sigh*... that man...🫠) 🪆The plot and the pace (it reads well, never a dull moment) 🪆Pearl necklaces (IYKYK)🫦 🪆The brotherhood and how family is such an important part of this story 🪆That ending!! I did NOT expect that, at all!
𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞:
🔸Enemies to lovers 🔸Dark Russian mafia romance 🔸When he (kinda) falls first 🔸Lots of great (GREAT) spicy scenes that will make you really thirsty 🔸Dominant AF MMC 🔸Found family 🔸All 💛the 💛feels💛
❗️Also, if you can’t wait for this book come out, you can always read Devious Promises which is a short story taking place in the Kozlov Empire universe (with one of my favourite character, Yulian). ❗️
Totally recommend this book if you love mafia romance, strong women, alpha males, Russian speaking men, steamy scenes, and a HEA. Monica Kayne did a great job writing this book, she is descriptive, has strong characters that have a lot of growth, and a great storyline. The two main characters are Georgia and Andrei, and their relationship is awesome, sexy, and hot. They are so attracted to each other, and both try to fight it but finally give in. These two both deserve happiness even though Andrei doesn't think he deserves Georgia. Andrei makes Georgia stronger than she could have ever been without him and Georgia softens Andrei and he can be himself around her. I loved Andrei's two brothers, and his head of security. These 4 men are their own little family and very supportive of each other. By the end of the book though the family has grown. I'm so looking forward to continuing this series and hope we haven't seen the last of Georgia and Andrei. One of my favorite quotes: "I never thought love was in my future, and I was fine with that. A loveless marriage seemed preferable. It was clean, no messy emotion to get in the way. But I found you, the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. Every day and always. Forever."
ARC Review . . . . “Don’t fight me,” I whisper against her neck. “You’re mine now, and you’ll do as I say.” - Merciless Heir by Monica Kayne
Merciless Heir by Monica Kayne is releasing 8th September!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔥🔥🔥
Merciless Heir is the debut book for this author. The story is gripping from chapter one and was hard to put down.
This is the first book in an up coming Russian Mafia series and follows the story of Andrei and Georgia.
We see this couple go from enemies to lovers after Andrei kidnaps Georgia from his rival family head home. The chemistry between these two could be seen straight of and the forced proximity only made it hotter.
The twist and turns in this book will have you craving more and guessing what’s going to happen next!
I cannot wait for the next book in this series 🖤
I would recommend if you like: 🖤Mafia 🖤Forced proximity 🖤Age gap 🖤Enemies to lovers 🖤Chasing
This is the first book of the Kozlov Empire Series. This book is a standalone story and I am very interested in reading more about the Koslov brothers. The heat between Andrei and Georgia is frickin hot and you can't help but root for them!
I really loved the story, the characters and the passion in the book. There is action and violence, it is a mafia romance after all, but it has just the right amount of it. I liked also the secondary characters and I would really like to read their stories too.
I will definitely read more from the author.
**I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.**
This was a good debut (full book) that very nearly had me giving all the stars. For me personally the heat got in the way at times, more often than not just when I was starting to fully invest. Which is a shame, but I definitely see this author's talent start to shine through especially towards the end. I caught the plot twist early on but that didn't stop me madly turning pages especially when things started to escalate. Looking forward to seeing what the next book is about, will definitely keep an eye on this author.
I loved this book. I did not expect to be as invested in the plot as I was and I love that I was hooked. The character development between the two main characters was perfectly paced in my opinion and so was the development of their relationship becoming more serious. The spice was ineffable. Calling the spice immaculate does not do it justice.
I absolutely loved this book. I feel in love with Andri and Georgia. This book gives us a total badass FMC. I love that this is the first book in a series. I can't wait to read more. Monica killed it with this book. Her writing is so incredible.
I really enjoy a good Mafia book and Monica Kayne didn't disappoint. The characters are well written and the story line flows. I love how Georgia developed into the woman that Andrei needed and wanted her to be. Andrei doesn't disappoint either. He shows both sides of his personality. One being the head of his family mafia then the softer side dealing with his love of his family and the lost. The sex scene are hot, steamy and sexy.
Who doesn't love a good mafia romance? Obviously I love them so diving into this book and world that Monica has created was easy and brainless for me. This story follows Georgia a young woman caught in the web that is the Kozlov Empire. She's headstrong and independent, something that made me absolutely love her throughout the novel. Andrei was an interesting bad boy that you obviously can't help but love because he's completely devoted to his girl (when they realize they are meant to be with one another). I think their dynamic was interesting in the beginning, but I didn't start liking the two of them together until the middle when their chemistry for me was at this all time high of spicy-ness.
I cannot wait to read more from Monica because her characters and books are amazing!
Man make woman as a pawn to gain something for his enemy is nothing but a coward move. For a man who claimed to be alpha male and possesive toward his girl that really doesn't sound like that ...I can't believe they make georgia as a spy to the enemy. I hate kira from the beginning because the brothers make georgia as a pawn for kira that sick, sacrifice innocent waman safety for the sake of other people, because of that i hate kira and when she abducted georgia i hope she died in the actually because he deserve that and guess what no she didn't and they even forgive her...oh lord i can't believe that and because of that too i cant read other book in the series because her character ( kira) still there

Russian captive! I will never tire of mafia kidnapping stories and this one was amazing. Like toe curling, having to take off my sweater kind of amazing. I’m so glad this book is on my shelf for future reads. wow. I loved the characters and this story was such a fun, spicy read. The degradation is just…perfect.
