Rock musician Philo Mae has run to Philadelphia from his home on the Jersey shore to escape the haunting suicide of his bandmate John Kind. Looking to start life anew, Philo falls for a beautiful woman who wastes no time in breaking his heart. In a compounded state of depression, he realizes that he must return to Cape May and retrace the steps that led to John's senseless death. Once there, Philo discovers that neither John's former girlfriend nor his younger brother have recovered from the tragedy. On the anniversary of the suicide, Philo relives the final hours of that day and is forced to make a difficult succumb to his dark thoughts or resurrect his life in order to stop the seemingly inevitable course of events.
