As an exciting sequel to his smash business bestseller 100 Ways to Motivate Others, Steve Chandler has teamed with Sam Beckford to write an astonishing wake-up call to the more than 20 million people in the United States and Canada who now own small businesses but don't know how to make them really pay off. By exposing the nine most common (and often fatal) myths in business, Chandler and Beckford offer simple and inspired solutions to the self-induced problems created by small business owners every day. The surprising truths countering each lie – lies such as "It Takes Money to Make Money," "I Am A Victim of Circumstance," and "I Can Do This On My Own"—have been battle-tested for years by Sam Beckford and his hundreds of successful small business coaching clients. Now, these same truths are delivered to millions of eager readers with the added kick of Chandler's trademark lively and entertaining writing style and powerful self-motivational tools. This book tells you not only how to guarantee that your business will be profitable, but also how to motivate yourself each day to do it! Steve Chandler is one of America's best-selling authors whose eight books—including the bestsellers 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself and Reinventing Yourself—have been translated into more than 11 languages. Chandler is also a world-famous public speaker who was described by four-time Emmy-award winning PBS screen writer Fred Knipe as "an insane combination of Anthony Robbins and Jerry Seinfeld." Chandler was recently named to the faculty at the University of Santa Monica where he teaches in the graduate program of soul-centered leadership. Sam Beckford is known throughout the United States and Canada as the "Small Business Millionaire." A five-time business failure who became a millionaire on attempt number six, his story has been told in books, on radio and television, and used in seminars across North America to help other business owners convert their own failures into successes. Beckford has successfully coached and been consulted by hundreds of business owners on how to get extraordinary results from ordinary small businesses, based on lessons from his own real-life experience.

You have to have been living under a rock not to have believed, or at the very least heard, any of these nine lies that Steve Chandler masterfully debunks using real examples and calling on the expertise of Sam Beckford throughout this book.
I loved seeing the lies in print; it was like staring at a fictitious story and realizing that up until that moment you, too, had believed that very lie and could recall exact moments in your professional life when you either repeated and/or perpetuated the lie.
As a coach I encounter these deep-seated beliefs and am delighted to have such a wonderful resource.
For anyone in business or who wants to start their own business or who wants to start again because they failed before -- read this book, see the lies for what they are and go create success today; you don't actually have to wait four years for your business to be a success (that's just a lie).
It seems like I'm going on a Steve Chandler reading spree. I liked this one. A great deal. It is full of insight; it delivers the truths and debunks the lies. I'd have given it 5 stars had the authors been more 'open-handed' about the ways & strategies they say changed their customers' lives & businesses.
9 Lies is a great book with a fresh perspective on some simple concepts. For example:Lie #2 It takes money to make money. The authors point out that when money is plentiful we don't tend to spend it as wisely as when it is scarce. Therefore, companies with more money are actually not as likely to succeed as those that have to watch their pennies.
While I did not agree with all of the 'lies' (For example: Lie #4 Experience will benefit me), this book does a good job at challenging conventional thinking. It also provides some interesting sample ads.
If you are looking for a book that will get you out of your current sales or marketing rut, this book may be a good choice for you!
You will take this book home after reading it, put it in bed, give it a glass of milk. You will wake this book up in ther morning, feed it and then take it out for a drive. It's fun to read, it tells things straingh and it swears. And also, maybe, only maybe, after doing all of the above you'll see that it teaches you a few simple things to start a get shit done right away. It has it all, so get this book and read it. And then make money. Or be a stronger person. Or start a business. Or just be better.
Fortunately I have fallen for all nine lies that are wonderfully outlined in this book. I say fortunately because now I have identified the falsehoods of my thinking and can now move forward with a clearer picture.
A book every entrepreneur should read. Steve Chandler explores 9 lies that stop entrepreneurs from experiencing the success they could be experiencing, and then shows how to shift those beliefs to success habits. Great little book. Easy to read.
Every time I read this book I am reminded of something that is vitally important for my business' growth, yet somehow I continue to fall back into the trap of status quo.
