This book exhausted me! It just seemed so lonng. 52 chapters to be exact. And what a ride it was! First, if you're reading this, you've probably read The Carnalli Complex so you already know the deal with the brothers. No need to go into that again, but this book features Quentin in all his ruthless, maniacal, amoral glory. Everyone knows that Quentin scares the crap out of me. Usually I love my ruthless MCs. Quentin, I keep at arm's length. I think it's safe to say that he is, if not THE most sadistic character I've ever read, then one of the most sadistic. Just when you think you understand him, he flips the script on you, and in this book, Quentin keeps it one hundy and brings his A-game. The other brothers just aren't ready.

A few things. To enjoy this book, just suspend all disbelief at the door. Forget trying to follow the twists and turns. Just nod and go with it. Characters making logical decisions? Not here. Alain doing anything that makes a lick of sense? Not in these pages. However, if you're looking for people having sex even though they're seriously injured and Alain having an unnaturally high sex drive, even in the most dire of situations? Then step right up! Also, Quentin has more money and connections than God lol. And yet, I did not want to put the book down. I may have taken a break here or there, yelled at a few characters and rolled my eyes once or twice, but I hung on for the duration and so should you because the twist/reveal in the final scene will set you up nicely for the sequel.

As usual, the sex is VERY abundant and depraved, and as I mentioned in one of my status updates, this book reads like a who's who of perversions. We even get to cutting on this go-round.

All I know is that this author needs Jesus and, clearly, so do I because I didn't put the book down until the very last word.

Yes, Kate. FIVE stars.

Since I'd already suspended reality when I started on Book 1, Book 2 was a Disney ride all the way. Maybe not Disney - Universal? The XXX-rated version? Whatever. I did skim some but not much.

Five freakin' stars because despite the sex marathon, I found Book 2 entertaining, engaging, romantic and left me - for much of the time - feeling all warm and fuzzy. If, that is, you can set aside the almost non-stop fucking, the fact that it's 5 brothers doing each other, aside from Big Brother's monster cock and the fact that after figuring whose dick is in whose ass and who's sucking whom at any one session, Chronic Carnalli Complex and its prequel, Carnalli Complex, is a love story about a not-so-normal family who do love each other the way regular close-knit Italian families do (I'm assuming they're Italian; not sure if it's stated in the book); who somehow survive their twisted desire for each other and the threat of danger, not just from Mitchell Shearer (Big Bro's enemy numero uno) but from Big Bro himself.

Five stars, also, because everything is so over-the-top and yet it all fit for me. Some books, the authors drop in something so out-of-place and unrealistic that it ruins the story. Here, in the whole Carnalli universe, anyway, everything is unrealistic so everything fit and nothing was unbelievable.

I loved Quentin! He was scary and, until towards the end, unpredictable. Every time he was around, I got nervous and every time he took out his dick, I clenched in apprehension and sympathy for poor Alain! For those who've read Vashtan's and Marquesate's Special Forces, comparisons between the cutting of Vadim's back with the knife and the cutting of Quentin's with a scalpel are inevitable. The former, however, ends with love, the latter because of love. Did I mention 'warm and fuzzy'? Quentin kinda becomes that for me...or maybe I'm sicker than I thought.

The only weak spot in this "fantasy" of a story, is Alain. I can't quite see what's so irresistible about him. For the most part, he came across like a teenage girl with a serious case of sex addiction - for her brothers. I just had to accept that his brothers did lust for him with a desire that drove them quite mad (well, Quentin, anyway) because I couldn't see it myself. Ven, I felt good about him. He loved Alain "normally". Meaning, if they weren't brothers and no one else was involved, he and Alain would have made a sweet couple. I found Con sexy - but that's probably cos he's a cop and there's a scene where he stops Ven and Alain on the road and sex-in-uniform results. Cobryn was the least likeable of the brothers for me. But he loved Alain, too, and as long as you love Alain in this book, you end well.

Because of the suspension of belief for the whole premise, I can easily believe in an HEA for this weird-ass family and that's how the book ends, though it also looks like Passhenette left a huge opening for a sequel.

I certainly hope so because...you know what? These Carnallis are damned addictive. I can easily see myself rereading this one day and I'd likely not even skim!

I AM FUCKING SPEECHLESS.

ALAIN, YOU LUCKY COCKSUCKING MOTHERFUCKER. I CAN'T EVEN.

And guess what, a theme song for Quentin and Alain!

You let me violate you, you let me desecrate you
You let me penetrate you, you let me complicate you
(Help me) I broke apart my insides, help me I’ve got no soul to sell
(Help me) The only thing that works for me, help me get away from myself

I want to fuck you like an animal
I want to feel you from the inside
I want to fuck you like an animal
My whole existence is flawed
You get me closer to god

And yes, it's Closer by NIN. It's accurate for our Quentin, the modern day Marquis de Sade. This accurately describes his relationship with Alain. (claps)

I loved this so much. It had some serious editing issues but these brothers are just so messed up that I looked past all that. And Emery and Hanley and Aví! I need to know what happens next but I’m gunna read these two little shorts first!

4.5/5⭐️ 5/5🌶️

This series is like crack, terrible for you but so fucking HOTTT 🥵🥵🔥🔥

This book was long... 49 chapters, an epilogue and then a little prequel with 6 chapters which is explained at the end😏 - 500 to 600 pages in total andddddd a whole lot of nastiness... 😉😉

It had a lot of drama/action but honestly felt like it took me a week to get through as there were some parts dragged which could have 100% been skipped over BUTTTTTT there was so much more banter between all the characters which had me dyinggg.

Quentin is a savage who I am actually obsessed with
and despite this mostly being about him, there is literally so much more needing to be uncovered and I cannot wait for it! We did get to see more of his relationship with Alan and how he's slowing changing towards him along with his other brothers as he has only ever wanted to protect his family.

Alan I just love (and the other 3) and have from the start, the way he is the heart of all 5 and how they gravitate towards him.. ughhhhh listen to me talking about a swoon romance between five brothers LOLOLOL

It's 10000% wrong
But it's romantic
and it's freaking hot

JUST. READ. IT!!!!!

The prequel : This was all in Cobryn's POV and how him and Conner kinda get together/make up but also where they first meet Mitchell Shearer and how they got caught up in his shit.

The Golden Raspberry for the smuttiest, weirdest Mafia-daily soap ever and an Oscar for the Carnalli-clan boss Quentin - the picture of a depraved mind.
There were 3 or 4 chapters - somewhere in the middle - in a row without s** - I was miffed...`nough said.

Once again blown away by the Carnalli Brothers! I feel like the hot sex scenes bar has been set so high that it feels like there's no way but going down from here. Pun intended ;) This book always had a lot of funny moments I thought. Like this moment had me cracking up!!

"Okay, what the hell did you tell them to do to my burger?" he said
Quentin's small smile went wide
"Did someone spit on it?" He lifted the bun and stared at the burger. "Did someone suck my pickles?"
I choked on a french fry and coughed, as I laughed.
"I wouldn't do that." Quentin said.
"And no one's had any of these fries up their ass or something?"

Plus a lot of action & even death that I surely didn't see coming. This book certainly isn't for everyone. And isn't for the faint of heart. If your not into taboo reads this isn't for you. But if you are? This just might be your match!

One thing I missed most about half of this book is all of The Carnelli brothers together. So much time Alain spent with Quentin. And Quentin is still a huge mind boggler to me. Even though he can be very generous at certain moments. I still don't trust him AT ALL. And there's side of him that is extremely dark. There were some downright gritty, raw and almost makes you cringe moments in here between him and Alain. He's such a hard-ass too. Its difficult for me to develop any kind feelings towards him because I just can't get past what he put his brothers through in Book 1. I almost thought Alain was stupid & delirious in some moments always yet sticking up for Quentin, and still sticking by his side. After what he's done I just didn't get how Alain could get past that.

I loved seeing the transition of Alain going from the beginning of Book 1 from a shy, timid young guy coming home from college to spend time with his brothers, and then fast forward all the way till Book 2…He's turned into this insatiable sex fiend but also he's a nice guy with a good heart. And then add in the major "Taboo factor" of all his brothers wanting him so badly. Its so hot to watch them all pine for his attention basically worship him. Sexy as hell! And so fun to watch unfold. Love him and Ven together. You can feel their bond and I always knew Ven was his favorite. They just fit each other like a glove.

The sex in here was above & beyond amazingly sexy. Especially that ending scene in the rain. Oh my ;) Get a cold glass of water when you read that! I think the author does a fantastic job of making details so vivid where you feel so attached to each scene as if your there.

I'm giving this 5 stars because I enjoyed it so much!! Fabulous!

Could not finish. This is the second book in a series. I liked the first book, but not this.

This book dragged. I wanted to quit reading, but I forced myself on. I finally stopped at the 50% mark. This is a long book, about twice the length of a regular novel. So my reading of 50% is probably reading about 300 or more pages.

Following is the plot during the first part of the book. Alain is living with his two brothers Cobryn and Ven. Cobryn and Ven are angry at their mafia-boss-brother Quentin. They want revenge on Quentin for torturing them in the first book. They have been spending time with Shearer, one of Quentin’s mafia enemies. Alain doesn’t know about Shearer. Alain is mad at Ven and Cobryn because they were gone a lot lately and won’t tell him what they were doing. Alain is also mad because when he recently had sex with Ven, Ven didn’t finish him off. So Alain leaves Cobryn and Ven to live with Quentin for a while. (Don’t ask me why. I had trouble with motivations here.) Now the relationship is Alain and Quentin. Quentin forces sex on Alain twelve or more times a day and often in front of others. Alain learns to accept the humiliation. Alain is in pain from too much rear door activity. Quentin is a sadist and likes to cause and receive pain, frequently with knives.

The first book was about Alain learning he was gay and developing new relationships. This book has Alain leaving the brothers he loved and having a new relationship with a sadist. The plot and motivations were not well thought out. It just wasn’t good for me. I suppose some might find the sex scenes hot. You could probably skim the story and just read the sex scenes. But that wasn’t an answer for me. The sex scenes in the first half of the book are men with men, group sex, sex in public, rear door activity, and pain.

ElaineY really liked this book #2. She makes some good points about how scary Quentin was. She’s right. And his character is quite a draw. So if you’re in doubt, read her review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... and give the book a try. It’s free.

NEEDS AN EDITOR:
There are many misused words and missing words - things a spell checker does not catch. Also, Chapter 20 is out of order. After reading Chapter 19, do a “search for” Chapter 20 to get it.

DATA:
Digital count story length: 8700 (677KB). Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: frequent and lots. Setting: current day New York, Florida, maybe elsewhere. Copyright: 2010. Genre: gay male romance erotica.

THE SERIES:
I enjoyed the first book in this series “The Carnalli Complex.” It was hot and entertaining. I gave it 4 stars.

This is the second story in this rather dark and twisted series, and one I had thought I would never read after being unable to rate the first one. (It seriously squicked me out - not so much the incest, but the violence and seemingly unnecessary pain that accompanied it.)

This book though, I found to be a lot better. Yes, there was still violence and incest (hello? It is about 5 brothers and their unusual relationships, so of course there is still incest and violence), but it was tempered by far more plot details in amidst the sea of sex, some of which explained what the first story had left unclear. Quentin's actions and his motivations for those actions, while still fairly horrible, became clearer to understand, in particular.

Most of the details were tidied up nicely by the end, except for one notable exception that was introduced in the last few pages - leaving the reader with either a red herring or a cliff hanger of sorts.

Be warned, if you are going to read this twisted story, just be aware it could do with a major overhaul of editing, to correct miscellaneous typos, incorrect tenses, odd sentence structures, etc, etc.

Despite (or because of?) some potentially disturbing content, I really, really liked this book. Found myself compelled to keep reading to find out what twists and turns the story would take next. The only downside was an ending that seemed to leave things unfinished - ready for the next installment perhaps?

I liked the second one even better since Quentin was involved more, I just wish it had a more concluding ending to it. This could definitely continue with all the boys getting together happily, finally.

I'm not new to any of the subject matters in this sucker, or at all squeamish about brocest/taboo/forbidden love in my M/M. That being said, this book really missed the mark for me. I didn't like any of the characters, who could've been stencils for all the dimension they were given, or buy any of the 'drama.' I barely understood the motivations of the main character, Alain, who's billed as the irresistible nympho younger brother everyone wants (Gary Stu-esque undertones there), or the monster-dicked megalomaniac older brother Quentin, whose sadomasochism was a glimmer of entertainment until I realized he was also a one-trick pony. Alain is like a mould. The shape of a personality is there, but mostly even he seemed lost throughout the story, and if the MC can't shed light or discern meaning from interactions around him, then we're in trouble, because I was lost along with him for most of this ride, trying to figure out why so-and-so felt the way they did or why they were doing this or that. Not to mention the handling of sensitive themes like sexual violence and implied child abuse was too flippant for me to understand their impact in the larger context of a story that didn't seem to take itself as seriously as it wanted me to.

The series reads like a giant, over-indulgent PWP featuring lazy characters, lazier plots and the frustrating interactions (yep, also featuring frustrating dialogue) arising from them, and while I can't deny how many times I rolled my eyes throughout, I'm not mad at the author for doing their thang (and obviously enjoying it... 52 chapters?! definitely a labour of love) and making it free for me to try out. I'm sorry I didn't like it, because when the subgenre of M/M you're into isn't prominently represented, finding anything that piques your interest with a premise this good is like getting a tax rebate.

I’m not even sure why I’m giving this 4 stars...cause I’m still so dissatisfied! Let’s go for 3.5 stars. This chapter in the Carnalli saga was very different from the first though it still carried the ‘pay as you go’ feel. In other words, this book definitely did feel like it was a choose your own adventure and we just kept getting dragged into a web of deceit and dysfunction.

I still got too many damn bones to pick with this story- bones that can’t be avoided any longer! But this story will stick with me for its novelty as my literary experiences goes and grows. This masked horror of sexual slavery of family is something I’ve never read of like this before.

But I don’t wanna write a 10 page review like I did the last one.

Really, everything comes down to this.

QUENTIN.

Despotic, deviant and duplicitous. And I’m not mad at him. He’s not an antihero. He’s grade A bad but I find myself trying to sympathize for him...

Starting with the first book, I said in my review Quentin is the most flawed and intriguing character. His dark design was muted but that black light showered him in this book. And that’s what did me in. I would be so content if the books were actually titled Quentin, simply. Or perhaps for him get a book entirely, ENTIRELY, from his POV spanning from childhood to the current time.

I said in my last review of the first book: what is the main idea? What does the author want us to come away with?

And I got that in this book at last... and it starts with and ends with my newest inductee in the Hall of Favorite Villains, Quentin. I get it, I get him but there are still too many holes in this story! This story would be fortified if we got a Quentin narrative- as the oldest he can expose so much about his family via his upbringing! Jeeeeeeez, I can’t say it enough. What a damn story!

In this second bk we see how an enemy of Quentin comes into town and is ready to do whatever he can to take him down and fuck him over financially. This guy stirs up lots of trouble and the brothers all have major decisions they have to make. Sides they have to choose.

Alain is not one who will just sit back and watch his brothers make some shit choices all because they cant see past they're hatred for their older brother Quentin. Alain sees past all that and he's not willing to let any of them go, especially not his craziest and most insane Quentin.

I loved this book just as much as the first one. Theres even more violence and blood/knife play in it. Alot more going on and answers that you may have had from the first book. We get to see glimpses of their dark sides in all the brothers. Some more then others. I mean they are all Carnalli's and it might just be theyre family curse. The scenes are fucking hot and how I wish I could be front row and center for all those moments.

My only issue is that I wish some of the brothers could see all there is to Alain and would quit trying to shelter him. He has a side they all haven't seen and I can't wait til they discover it. The scenes only get hotter and we still see some jealousy too.

I can't fucking wait for the next book!!!!!
A definite keeper and reread.

All right. Composure regained. I can move on with my review now.

So. This second installment. Long, very much so. It could really use some editing and review, especially the side plot. Somewhat it lacked the freshness of the first chapter of the series.
Still. There are some seriously intense stuff going on (dat sex scenes!) that you can't put the book down, even whilst muttering between yourself words of disbelief/disapprobation/exasperation.

3.5 stars - Oh man this was a doosy...way too long. Should of been edited and condensed.

It was nice to get back to the crazy Carnalli brothers. Their story just gets weirder and kinkier by the second. Alain has made some friends at college but to stay safe, he must go live with Quentin. Now that's one cold fish. We learn about his need for pain and his wish to reunite the brothers. Alain wants them all to live together... There are some pretty hot orgy scenes (hoo-boy!!!).

Some things are still left up in the air like the Hanley/Avi/Emory situation and the mysterious Mitch Shearer. I don't think we've seen the last of him.

3.5 stars maybe. Over long, typo-ridden, thinly plotted free read made up for by hot monkey incestuous sex throughout! Written fron Alain, the youngest brother's PoV as he is taken into his eldest brother, Quentin's dark influence.

'I finally did something I never got the chance to until now. Starting at the small of his back, I licked my way up as far as my height would allow. I traced the snake's body with my tongue. Then, I stopped just below his shoulder blade and sank my teeth into his skin.'

I really got to like all the brothers more in this book even more...dare i say, even crazy Quentin!! This book had ups & downs and OMG..NO EFF'N WAY moments...HOLY SHIT that's HOTT moments!

I'm sad that there isn't another one to read right away but I'm hoping that soon...we'll get to revisit The Carnalli Brothers & their crazy lives!!

Man this was good.

Forget good. It was freaking amazing. So much more complex than what we thought. So many layers through the years. We really learn a lot here about all these guys. Plus, there are other things we are left wondering about. Love how Pas Shen satisfies us and yet leaves us intrigued. This is not a read for those who like light and fluffy. This is deep, and at times, quite dark. If you have triggers, if give this a pass. For me though, I say being it in and give me more.

Heads up, you will need to read book one (The Carnalli Complex) prior to reading this to fully understand the relationships between these brothers and the background to the story. This book takes place a while after book one ends. (A year or so.) Alan (whose POV we are following,) has gone undercover (primarily for his protection.) His friends all know him as someone else. They have no idea who he is or who his family is. His life, for the most part, is normal... at least normal for him. His brothers are still fighting for his attention, but they are also working more closely together for the greater good. Battling with the evil villain(s)... and not just Quentin (the eldest of brothers and also a man the other brothers are trying to protect Alan from.) We get some glimpses of this other mysterious man in book one, but in this book, we get more involved with him. As with book one, there is quite a bit of sexual content. All between men. No girls allowed. The relationship between the brothers change in this book. (For the better in my opinion.) As with book one, this is a rather long read. Over 500 pages, so it does take some time to read. While this is a taboo (incest,) these characters are something else. They are fun to read about... the good, the bad and the ugly. Each of the brothers have such different personalities. While there aren't any major triggers in this book, there are some darker moments and some violent tendencies. Due to the subject matter and the sexual content, this is suitable for mature readers only.

As fucked up as book number one was, this ups it by a hundred. I had emotions through this one, so much confusion and annoyance.

Quentin's new personality is something we get very familiar with in this book as Alan (I still prefer Alain) moves in with him after some disagreements with his brothers and the need for safety. Better the evil you know.
And of course, nothing comes without a price when Quentin is involved, as all the brothers finds out in this book, actions have consequences.

There is more to their past than the first book let on, and blanks are being filled out where all the brothers are concerned, and Alan's way to tame the beast is not as surprising after all.

This book is filled with so much hot sex, though it's more plot and character development in this one, there's violence, because it's the Carnalli brothers, and blood.
It's an exhausting read, so very long, but I liked it. I just wanted more time between the brothers, I missed their banter in between the steam.

And Ven is truly an onion.
But their obsession with Alan and the devotion for him is something I always enjoy reading. And this just made me ready for book three.

This was a much longer read, and we finally get more insight into Quentin's hidden side that we didn't see in Book 1. I'm still a bit confused how he was able to hide all that for so long though.

Anyways, there's a lot more conflict in this book and is very action-packed. We're introduced to more side characters that quickly become a bit more permanent. Then when we get attached, there is devastation, and I'm hoping that's just a plot point that serves something later and we'll see him again, because WTF I need him to be alive.

There's less smut between all the brothers here since Alan is mostly by Quentin's side, and Cobryn and Ven are being dummies, but there's still a lot of delicious scenes between Quentin and Alan, and one between Connor and Alan when he was allowed to visit.

The last third of the book contains a separate short story of how Connor rescues Cobryn (The "Carnalli Crisis" which takes place before the start of Book 2, but after "Ven", so it's techinically #1.6).

In love with the Carnalli Brothers
Of course the story continues in the most pas-Shen-ate ways!

Definitely read the prequel to book 2 in the last part of this book first, it will help to tie this story together and is told from Corbryn's POV.

Could have used a final edit but I could easily look over some simple issues as the story was quite gripping.

I have to compliment the author and thank her for the cover art of Alan and his sexy "sheer tux" as well as she incorporated that look in one of my favorite highlights in the book. That was some excellent writing.

I can't pick a favorite character... Each is unique and creative and my imagination was in overdrive. Can't wait for the 3rd book, please hurry!

This is such a great book and series

I cannot wait to see what book 3 brings. Not only do we have very horny brothers but we have such a mystery that is Quentin... This goes beyond corporate intrigue and it is fascinating to watch him take out rivals.. He's like an onion, each layer you peel back brings the pain of tears.. I love these boys..

My opinion:

A good story if you’re into this taboo and if you’re already invested in the series and just curious what’s next. There are a lot of issues with editing here with missing words and words out of proper order.
