Barnaby Rogerson (1960-) is a British author, television presenter and publisher. He has written extensively about the Muslim world, including a biography of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and numerous travel guides. Rogerson was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, and studied Medieval History at St Andrews University
I'm still reading this; in fact, I've only read two of the essays so far. The first one was unmemorable, and the second one rubbed me the wrong way. I really want to like/enjoy the rest of it, though, so for now the jury is still out and I'm giving it a 2 because it's at least made me want to soldier on further.

Update: I never got around to finishing this. I'm leaving it at two because of that. I read a few more essays, and my feeling was the same (that it was kind of a mixed bag). Something that rubbed me the wrong way about some of the essays I read was the treatment of the subjects as these exotic, foreign creatures more than as real people. Maybe I'm just an uncharitable reader, though.
