When candy shop owner Samantha Hampton nursed an injured stranger and invited him into her home, she thought she was being a Good Samaritan– after all, it was the least she could do after breaking his foot. Richard Moore' s charm put her at ease and made her heart pound. But Samantha didn't know that she was aiding the enemy!
Richard Moore had no more control over his attraction to Samantha than he did the fact that his family' s confectionary chain would put Samantha' s small shop out of business. Despite being her competition, Richard had no intention of breaking her heart. Would Samantha forgive him when she learned the truth of his identity… ?
I’m an ESL kid and this is the first English book I ever finished. I was somewhat 13 and really proud of myself. I grew up dislike this genre but imma rate this book 5 stars anyway out of the memory and warmth I received back then, bear in mind again I was 13 and this whole plot with the candy store stuffs is really cute hahaha.
For a woman with strong Christian values, making disparaging marks about someone who wronged her... infront of customers....did not sit well with me at all. Little to no development of character or relationship. They suddenly just loved each other and her need for him seemed unhealthy. It also felt as if he did a combo of pressure and manipulation to convince her to go on a date with him, but reassured her at the same time that he didn't want her to agree out of guilt. What is it with this notion that forceful men are so romantic and lovely? He's a Christian though so it's ok. The old-fashioned "Candy Shoppe" sold handmade chocolates and also cinnamon buns and prepackaged sandwiches and the owner wondered why her business was failing. Sounds like a terrible mishmash of a mediocre cafe.

this is the story of Samantha Hampton a local candy store owner and Richard Moore, a Scottish co-owner of a well known confectionary with stores all over the world. There's obviously gonna be trouble.
A very chill book good for a weekend or a holiday read. If you want to escape stress and the nonstop movement of the world, this book is a good way to escape!

When i read this book, I didn't quite know what to expect but it is now one of my favorites. Cheryl Wolverton takes a young woman who is care-taker for her grandmother and who runs a candy store, from an angry, bitter person who has had some hard knocks, and transforms her into a sweet, humble and loving person. Granted, it takes the whole book to see this change but it is definitely worth it.
