Yogananda was one of the most significant spiritual teachers of the 20th century. Since his classic, Autobiography of a Yogi, was first published in 1946, its popularity has increased steadily throughout the world. The Essence of Self-Realization is filled with lessons and stories that Yogananda shared only with his closest disciples, this volume offers one of the most insightful and engaging glimpses into the life and lessons of a great sage. Much of the material presented here is not available anywhere else.
Paramahansa Yogananda (Bengali: পরমহংস যোগানন্দ Pôromohôngsho Joganondo, Sanskrit: परमहंस योगानंद Paramahaṃsa Yogānaṃda), born Mukunda Lal Ghosh (Bengali: মুকুন্দ লাল ঘোষ Mukundo Lal Ghosh), was an Indian yogi and guru who introduced many westerners to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his book, Autobiography of a Yogi.
This book - to me - was a continuation of 'Autobiography of a Yogi' with Paramahansa Yogananda's views about religion, spirituality, philosophy, human & divine condition, etc. further elaborated one topic-per-chapter. I enjoy and appreciate Paramahansa Yogananda's writings and want to read more of his writings/teachings and have found that he has established the infrastructure for any future spiritual aspirants to learn directly from 'him' through home-study materials. My friends in the US can subscribe to these lessons at http://www.yogananda-srf.org/PY_SRF_L... while my friends in India can do the same at https://www.yssofindia.org/meditation...
An exceptional book. I bow my head at the lotus feet of Paramhansa Yogananda ji and I’m grateful to Swami Kriyananda ji for noting the Master’s words and compiling them into this book.
A short book containing a wide variety of Yoganandas quotes, sayings, wisdoms and practical advice. While it can can lack a red thread, it covers a wast assortment of subjects. This book connects the Hindu and yoga philosophy and practice in a very nice way. Wish I had read this sooner. A good read!
