Silver's relationships haven't been great, but when she receives a "Dear Jane" letter from Chris Bentley, she figures she's hit an all-time low - mainly because she's never even met the man! What's worse, the letter is cold and businesslike, as if it had been dictated to the man's secretary. Irritated, Silver contacts Mr. Bentley to clear up the misunderstanding and tell him what she thinks of his understanding of women.
Two Silver Sinclairs are roaming the earth, one in Portland Oregon and one in Seattle Washington. When Chris Bentley's secretary accidentally sends his "Dear Jane" letter to the wrong Silver Sinclair, sparks begin to fly. This was a fun romance with a lot of humor. Chris Bentley had things from his past that made him both somewhat detached and a workaholic trying to prove himself good enough for his grandfather. With Portland Silver, he just didn't have much in common other than his love for this widowed young woman's son. Seattle Silver, in contrast, loved every single outdoor thing that Chris enjoyed. Yet both Silvers felt that his work driven mania was something they couldn't live with. Seattle Silver knows she's in love with Chris but wonders if he will ever have the strength and faith to live the life that was out there waiting for him. Enjoyable, easy-to-read, faith based romance.
Silver Sinclair receives a letter breaking off a relationship from a man she has never met. Since the letter is typed on company letterhead in an impersonal style, Silver takes it upon herself to upbraid the man about such a callous gesture. After much time and ups and downs in the book, of course, Silver and the really not so bad letter writer, Chris Bentley do end up happily ever after. Sometimes this is just the kind of story you need. I was glad to rediscover this novel on my shelf as I was downsizing.
Known for her mysteries, Lorena McCourtney does a great job with this unusual romance that starts with the wrong Silver getting a 'Dear Silver' letter. Through many trials and lots of forgiveness, this story has a happy ending that proves God is at work in our lives for our good. All we have to do is trust Him with the details.
This a romance unlike any other I've read and it is fabulous! It starts off with a break up and has at least 3 more along the way, but it ends with a message of forgiveness and God's Love.
I admit I am more of a fan of Lorena McCourtney's mystery books, but I found this read engaging. It was a little too unrealistic for me in the sense that all of the stars aligned, faith crisis resolved, relationships mended. But it was a nice, indulgent read.
