In this book, CARON, a mother shares her experiences and emotions during her daughter’s struggles to emerge from a coma and reclaim her life following a closed head injury. The early chapters reflect the author’s heavy heart; but she and her family quickly learn that, especially under such tragic circumstances, laughter is essential. It stabilizes the family and also contributes to awakening a comatose patient. This family laughed! Come laugh—and cry—with them as Caron’s Mom reflects upon this difficult time in her family’s life, while also offering insights that might help other families and friends who shoulder a similar burden.
This book came up in my to reads for supporting stories of accident victims. When the library emailed and said it was in and I went and picked it up I about fell over when I seen the picture on the cover. This beautiful sole is a co-worker of mine. I have never been so touched by a story of tragedy, love and support in my entire life. If you are dealing with someone who is rehabbing and trying to learn to get back to them old selves as much as they can. This is a must read, or if you just need an uplifting story to read and know anyone can get through ANYTHING if given the right support and tools.
Thank you to Caron's Mom and Caron for sharing their story.
I don't usually write long reviews but for anyone who has ever had a friend,or family member with a Brain injury, this is a must read. I cried and laughed but mostly learned.
