Rate this book
In her attempt to escape her sisters’ Valentine matchmaking, Annie meets the enigmatic Eric, who she realizes could finally be the man of her dreams. In spite of, or maybe because of, Eric’s cryptic words and puzzling behavior, she finds herself immediately intrigued and drawn to him like no other man she’s ever met. One night in Annie’s sister’s kitchen seals their fate, as the two lovers discover and explore the instant spark of heat between them. Their evening comes to an abrupt end when the mysterious Eric disappears into the night, and Annie realizes she doesn’t know his last name! How is she to find him?

After months of fruitless searching, Annie finally gets a dubious break when she meets Eric’s eccentric mother. Dita sends Annie on a journey deep into the unknown, through an ever-twisting labyrinth of frustrating dead-ends and seemingly strange, pointless missions. Annie’s life is turned upside down as she searches for the one man who can make her life feel complete.

Told in the spirit of magical realism, this modern day adaptation of the Greek myth of Eros and Psyche takes Annie on each of Psyche’s tasks in her quest for her lost love. Each task brings her closer to him and to realizations about herself. Will Annie find Eric and reveal to him the secret she’s been keeping, even from her sisters?

That was a ton of fun to read! A retelling of the Psyche and Cupid story I was hooked from the opening line.

It's one of those stories that is super short and moves really quickly, but really how long does it need to be? Though I could have read more and more and would have welcomed more scenes with Annie and Eric, I'm glad that it was a short. No actually that's not true, I am utterly lying, the more I think about it, the longer I want it to be. There's not enough Eric for me. I need more. I would have loved more, but on thinking about the myth on which it's based, how much more could there have been.

Selena Kitt writes really good smut. I think one of the first books that I read of hers was strictly F/F so I am SO glad that I read this because she really knows how to write a steamy scene. I totally wanted to be under that table. I really, really wanted to be on that cot... Did I mention that I want more Eric.

Okay, so all in all. I LOVED this story, in fact I now want to read a bunch of Selena's other books. I'll have to start Selena Kitt wishlist on Amazon, like ASAP!

This was a very clever (and very sexy) retelling of the Psyche and Eros myth. It has been a looooooong time since I've read that myth, so many of the references went over my head. The ending comes out of the blue with not enough explanation for what Anne went through looking for Eric. I rounded up from 3 1/2 stars as I really did enjoy it even with the odd ending.

Come and learn the secret of life and death, and a little about love in Selena Kitts Blind Date. Annie has always been the pretty one, the youngest of three sisters she was pampered and spoiled. Tired of living with the stigma that pretty equates to dumb, Annie just wants to find someone who sees her for who she is and not just a pretty face. After spending a night in the dark with Eric, she just might have found him, now if she could only find him. After their one night together Eric seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth.

Tired of her sisters constant matchmaking schemes, Annie flees another disastrous attempt at finding her Mr. Right, and in doing so finds Eric who just might be Mr. Right. His sudden disappearance starts Annie on a journey to find him, and along the way herself. After two months of searching Annie gets a lead, and mistakenly thinks that her search is almost over, when if fact it's really just beginning. Meet Dita, Eric's mother, who is as crafty as she is mysterious, and working her own agenda to what end we're never quite sure. Dita has no idea where her son is , but she starts Annie off on the true path to find him.

Selena Kitt's creativity coupled with her attention to detail, makes even the most mundane activity seem exciting. Her characters are vibrant and relatable each with their own unique brand of strange, that makes you wish they were real. With each new person Annie meets, from Virgil and his passionflower honey to Herman and his lessons on the Order of Gabriel, you get drawn into this wonderful world of intrigue and mystery.

Mrs. Kitt's creativity and detail orientation are seen through the book including the sex. Eric and Annie's chemistry makes for some very hot sex that leaps off the page. Rather than being a purely physical encounter, there is an underling connection between these two that makes not just the sex but every aspect of their relationship more intense.

Join Annie on her quest to find love, herself, and the mysteries of the Greeks. The ride is full of twists and turns and a few surprises you never see coming. The course of true love never did run smooth, but when you add in well intentioned matchmaking sisters and a mother with her own agenda, it gets down right turbulent.

While normally I like a little magical realism in fiction, it wasn't enough to excuse the other things that didn't work for me. It was the magical realism that kept me reading despite...

First, while MC's sisters obviously meddle too much, yes knowing who she was running off with was a good, caring call on their part. Yet, MC and Eric both blame them for MC's breaking her promise to not look at him (Eric).

Second, the MC tries so hard to find Eric, which while a little stalker-esque, is necessary for this mystical story line.

Third, insta-love(tm). Sure, they spent a good bit of time chatting in the dark before fucking, but

Overall, the writing itself was good, and the story easy to read, but it was the concept in the story that I simply did not like one bit. I would try another of Ms. Kitt's stories however, .

This book started out like a good Selena book should. With a smokin smexy scene.

Annie is trapped in a party from hell with her Sisters and their slimy husbands. She runs from one husband in a game of spin the bottle gone wrong, to go hide in the kitchen.

Well whod'a thunk there would be a guy who had the same idea. Annie gets to talking with the mystery lurker, and she and Mr. Hiding, Dark, and Shadowy get it on while the party rattles away in the next room.

But after a misunderstanding and some opinionated sisters, Annie goes home alone.

We then fast forward in the book, and Annie can't find her mystery man anywhere. She does find out where his mother is, and is sent on a wild goose chase through the city, before she winds up waiting for her prize.

The trip through the city really threw me. I didn't really get it. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think we got to know the point of the whole chase, other than his Mom's a weirdo with a lot of influence in the city.

This also struck me as a good beginning to a series with the cast of characters we were introduced to. But I could be wrong.

We do get our HEA. And it sounds like these two will be very happy together. But I prefer the other books, I've read by Selena to this one. 3 stars.

I really liked this one. I'm glad Ms. Kitt spoke up about the missing paragraph, or I'd have been confused like everyone else (the part at the beginning where she's with her sisters and goes into the kitchen and then he says "Why couldn't you keep your promise?" and storms off... there's a paragraph missing in my version). But I really liked all of the quests his mother sent her on. I think they were all tests of her mettle and whether she was worthy of Eric. I mean, Annie could have given up on the first one, but then she wouldn't have gotten the second one, or the third or fourth. As is usual with Ms. Kitt, the sex was hot. It may not be as much sex as some of her stories, but it worked for this one. And I love an HEA, so this all worked well for me. :-)

Taking an old tale and making it new in modern times is a twist which Ms. Kitt seems to be on a roll. This one is the Eros myth and it's quite fanciful and fun.

I liked the monastery and Hermann. I liked the bees. I liked the concept and world building. The characters I could have done without. I'm bias. I'm not fond of shrinks so this main character (whose name I can't remember) doesn't do it for me. She is annoying. I did like Eric and his mother Dita. OH right, the girl's name is Annie. She has two nasty older sister - Rebecca and Chloe. Blech.

Anyway, I still gave this a 3 because of the world building. The main character gets a 1 but her shy lover, shy lover's mother and shy lover's roommate all get a 3.

18 + plus review.

I really liked this book. It was surprisingly tame (not at all taboo) for a Kitt story. There were only 2 real sex scenes (still very hot though!) - one near the start and one near the end. Most of the story revolved around this girl who had a mystery encounter with a guy in the dark and how she goes on a big adventure in the search to find him later. There's a little bit of magic in the book, which was a nice little twist.

I'd recommend this book to a person looking for some steamy sex without having an entire book filled with it.

Woman meets man in the dark at a party and encounters a mysterious fling with him. Man disappears, woman goes on hunt for him and comes across a lot of fun adventures on the way.

Pretty tame for a Kitt book, but I wasn't complaining. There was a very hot sex scene at the start of the book, and another one at the end. The middle was a fun story and I quite liked it. I'm glad I read this one. It's probably in my top 5 to 10 of Kitt's.

As in every Selena Kitt story, the sex is fantastic. That woman really knows how to write sex. The story loosely follows that of Cupid and Psyche, even down to Cupid's mother sending Psyche (Anne) on odd missions for her. It was interesting, but a bit confusing, and that confusion wasn't cleared up by the end of the story.

I am always a little skeptical about myth's being retold but I really liked this Psyche and Eros retelling. It was a quick and easy ready with lots of hot smoldering scenes. I liked the mix of humor and intrigue. I am also glad the author stayed pretty true to the original myth.

I thought this was a cute story. I never did figure out Eric's mom. What was her purpose? But since this is the first of a new series I'm hoping we get more answers in upcoming books.

this wasn't my favorite by Ms. Kitt, but I still found it enjoyable. I liked the mythology aspect of it because it made the story itself more interesting.
