Well, it took me almost all summer but I have finally completed my reading of this collection. Before picking up this book I never realized my interest in mountaineering and those who do it. Initially I thought they were crazy and that I could never in a million years relate but as I continued through the essays I realized why most mountaineers climb. It isn't such an easy question to answer because they climb for so many different reasons, a lot of which were so surprising to me. This book has inspired me to up my hiking and escape from my laptop and air conditioning. Bottom line? It's a great read and I encourage you to get your hands on it. You may just surprise yourself like I did.

Great compilation of some of mountaineering's best stories. Fun reading for the climber.
