Laura Foreman (June 11, 1943 – June 4, 2020) was an American journalist and author, and the first female political writer at The Philadelphia Inquirer. She was the first reporter who lost their job due to an affair, also effectively ending her journalism career. Noting the harsh punishment in the case, critics saw a double standard, with different consequences for men and women. Her former colleague Lee Winfrey cited her attractiveness and success as a cause of resentment from male colleagues.
After the investigation, Foreman changed paths, and began work as a writer and editor at Time-Life Books. At the height of the position, she managed 20 people and freelanced for Discovery Publishing, authoring many books on subjects of True Crime, history, archaeology, biography, and more.
Just when the police thought they had apprehended the Zodiac, they had received another letter informing them they had caught the wrong guy and Zodiac had killed again. This book gives you a great insight to the Zodiac killer and his case, which has infamous letters, coded messages, and multiple murders. The whole case took place in California in the late 60's and early 70's, and my grandparents lived in this location at the time and they remember all the panic and fear he put into the people in this area. The book contains who the killer was or might have been but you'll just have to read for yourself. I recommend this book to anyone looking to research about the Zodiac killer or have a interest in murder mysteries. Once you get into the case, you just can't stop reading because of how interesting the case got and you just want to get to the end and solve who did it all. This book is for sure not recommended if you have a weak stomach because of the viscous way he killed people, and also to anyone who just really isn't into serial killers.
I am pretty addicted to true crime. Reading about the zodiac killer is right up my alley in general, but this book had hand written letters and requests to the media that portray how completely narcissistic he was. The stories in this book are fascinating, and creepy enough to consider leaving the light on if you are not one who can stomach murder cases easily! This book is fairly gruesome, but if you enjoy sorting through the mind games of sadistic criminals, this book is for you.
I didn't like this book as much as the others that came in the set. It had a lot of good information, but just wasn't as fascinating as the rest of the books.
