Chinese Export Porcelain is the focus of this book. It covers the evolution of trade between the Celestial Empire and the West during the Qing Dynasty, Manchus who ruled China from 1644 through 1908. For the first time, porcelain production in the 19th century is explored. Against the backdrop of the Opium Wars and the crucial Taiping Rebelion, porcelain trade with West is explored. While many texts cover the 18th century, this is the first time that the full panoply of Chinese Export has been depicted with beautiful color photographs of the Nadler collection.
