A book everyone should read if you want to know how leftism works, whether it is communism, socialism or liberalism.
Mr. Hyde was a dedicated communist who was even editor of a communist daily newspaper in England.
From Mr. Hyde you learn the strategies of the left which is to lie, cheat, steal; whatever it takes to promote communism. One example is that before Russia was invaded by Germany the party attacked England's involvement. Once Russia was attacked then it was, "we love Churchill."
This is how the left operates today. The end justifies the means.
What was incredible was the story of the graces that ended up causing Mr. Hyde's conversion and abandonment of communism. He had one weakness as a communist. He loved the Middle Ages and Gregorian Chant. He did not love them for religious reasons, but because it reflected a simpler, calmer time. That love as well as his studies of Catholic authors brought him to the faith.
Fantastic book if you want to see how liberalism, communism and socialism operate. On the right sadly, some believe the left acts in good faith. Mr. Hyde demonstrates that nothing could be farther from the truth.

Autobiography of a former British communist, who was news editor of the Daily Worker newspaper. Became a communist in 1928, left in 1948, and has a lot to say about the history of the British party in those years and their rather cult-like methods of converting and keeping members.

Very informative for those of interest in political history and an interesting journey of transferring beliefs. Not the best flow and does require concentration.
