A Heart Promptly Offered  presents the basic story of Calvin's life, along with numerous excerpts from his own pen—writings from his letters, commentaries, and sermons. I heartly recommend the books from this Leaders in Action series. Being a calvinist myself I enjoy reading anything about John Calvin. This book covers many subjects of the life, character, and legacy of John Calvin. None of it is covered exstensively (the bibliography will keep you busy)but you still come away knowing a good bit of how Calvin impacted his and our country, his church and ours, and how his understanding of the Bible impacted his life and can without doubt impact ours. I would say that nothing in my life has shaped my thinking more than reformed calvinistic theology.
