Young Brothers #4

My Sister is a Werewolf

Rate this book
The sexy Young brothers may know a fang or two about the art of seduction, but their sister, Elizabeth, is positively mooning over a few issues of her own...

Bad Moon Rising

Elizabeth Young's brothers think they have it rough as vampires? Ha! Two words for them: unwanted hair. What werewolf Elizabeth craves is a normal life with a husband, kids, and less shaving. Unfortunately the vaccine she's researched isn't working yet. Worse, she's in heat - and soon every dangerous wolf pack for miles around will be at her door. To buy time, she needs to have sex, and often, with the first human male she can find...

Veterinarian Jensen Adler just meant to drown his sorrows, until a stunning, leather-clad brunette made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Now he's caught up in something really weird, definitely dangerous, and, okay, extremely hot. So his new girlfriend's hiding something (and she's a little freaky about the moon), but Jensen knows true love when he feels it, and this time, he's not giving up... no matter how hairy things get.

“My Sister is a Werewolf” book #4 of the Young Brother’s series. A story that tells of the once presumed dead sister (Elizabeth) of the vampire brothers Rhys, Christian, and Sebastian Young; Now surprisingly a living werewolf.

Kudos to Kathy she’s out of her writing slump. This book is more like in the first in the series. In that Lizzie, our werewolf, manages to pick up a stranger from her brother Christian’s bar and has sex in the front seat of this guys the pick-up truck (before you even get up to chapter 5!) and it’s HOT (can you say bitch in heat?!?!)

The book starts off blood boiling like this and drops to a steady simmer. Nice and evenly paced, I just wish there were more hot sex like the first scene. Oh well, you can’t have everything. {grin}. An enjoyable read taken with a giant grain-of-salt for the plot hole that glares you in the face of how the author manages to resurrect the presumed dead sister.

Ok, here's my one nit pick of the whole story line of how she got to be a werewolf. In the first book her brother Rhys says she’s dead, not undead but dead-dead. And since he was a vampire by that time I’m more then a little certain he could tell the difference. So how is it that Brody, the grave robbing werewolf, digs her up and is able to change her? The last time I checked my big-book-O'-lycanthropy the werewolf to-be has got to at least have a spark of life left in them. Ok, getting off my plot-hole soap box now.

Like I said before it was an enjoyable read. Too bad it’s probably the end of the series, I would have liked to revisit Jensen and Elizabeth a few years after the baby is born just to see how things have gotten along with them and the whole Young vampire clan.

This is part of a series, but I didn't feel like I missed anything. Elizabeth, who also went by Lizzie when she was younger and with a different crowd, who is renting a house and searching for a cure for werewolfism. She sees it as the only way she can have a normal life and escape from Brody, her "mate." If you would have guessed Brody to be a crazy asshole, you would be correct.
Jensen moved back to town to help out his grandpa and take over his vet practice. His grandparents raised him after the death of his parents, so he is super close to him. Jensen is also mourning the loss of his fiancé, Katie.
This starts out with Elizabeth seducing Jensen. Wouldn't cha know it, but she's in heat and they have unprotected sex (and you know where that leads). She also only wants Jensen. And he only wants her and has a freaky sixth sense when it comes to knowing she is in trouble. There is angst on Elizabeth's part (I can't have you b/c werewolf!). Jensen accepts the existence of the supernatural very easily. Overall, a nice read, but nothing new. Some inconsistencies but I could ignore them.
Ripped Bodice Bingo- karaoke square (Elizabeth's brother and SIL own a karaoke bar & karaoke played a (small) role at the very beginning). This would also work for scientific pursuit, but I think karaoke would be harder to find, so I'm using it for that square.

Setting – West Virginia – karaoke bar, 2 farm houses… country living.

Theme – self discovery, destiny, love

Characters:
Elizabeth Young aka Lizzie Devlin – attacked by Chris’s vampire, buried though still alive; unburied by werewolf grave diggers (to sell bodies to doctors), returned home, home sold & brothers gone, returned to weres, agreed to be Brody’s mate, when strong enough left and met up with Dr. Chambers, has been looking for a cure to werewolfism so as to be unmated.

Christian/Jolee & Rhys/Jane & Sebastian/Mina– support… they are there all trying to reknow Elizabeth and to help her in any way they can.

Jensen Adler– raised by grandparents in West Virginia home, wanted to be vet like granddad, high school girlfriend had a rough childhood and never wanted to return… they went to college together, and had a fight about going home after college… he walked away, calmed down, returned, saw car that hit a tree, and it was his girlfriend. Finished school, returned home to take over granddad’s practice, and still feeling guilty causing his love’s death.

Granddad – loves his grandson, pushing him to get back to living.

Brody Devlin- elizabeth’s ‘mate’ – he’s been kicked out of the pack and believes Elizabeth is his ticket back in… he spends most of his time plotting and changing his mind on what to do, but finally kidnaps her, threatening Jensen & her unborn if she doesn’t cooperate..

Plot:
Elizabeth makes herself a lab in the barn, and thinks she may have found ‘the cure’… and curiously owls, deer, skunks, mice & horses are happy to be near her… but for the month, she’s been feeling restless, low level anxious, and doesn’t know why – but she goes to her brother’s bar one night, and sees Jensen – and she is drawn to him… she watches him, he notices her, she goes outside, he leaves, she brazenly asks for a ride home… she takes him to a quiet road, and they ‘jump each other’s bones’… and he cuddles her, and a short nap… then she leaves with a thank-you… and the next night, she tracks him to his home, and he invites her into dinner, and they make love on the kitchen table, again overcome by passion. And she leaves…

Neither understand what is happening – this is not behavior either would do… Jensen is more accepting of his feelings, better able to keep perspective… Elizabeth is hiding more – being a werewolf of course, but also the mate issue. He tracks her down for visit number 3, and he catches her in the barn, at first partially turning into a wolf – and he cares for her, as she has a high fever, and she is so sweet…

She wants to do what is right, and stay away from him… but they can’t help themselves… they decide to date, and she agrees because she just can’t stop herself…

And she’s pregnant (tired all the time), but doesn’t know it… but Brody does… When Brody finally shows himself and threatens Jensen, she stabs him with a knife, changes to wolf to get to Jensen to warn & protect him… granddad shoots her in the shoulder, Jensen shoots wolf Brody in the leg… she changes to human, he takes out the bullet, and when he goes to get food for her, she leaves through the window, with a plan of contacting the rest of the pact to take care of Brody, and to contact Dr. Chambers to find out about how close she is to the serum being correct. But Brody is there, coldcocks her and takes her to a cabin a few hours away… and Jensen knows she’s in trouble, can’t find her at her house, goes to her brothers, who are tracking her… they throw hints about her and him / werewolf and vampire… and must stop at daylight… and 2 hours before sundown, he can picture Elizabeth and her distress, and knows he must get to her… and his instincts take him to her… and he gets into the cabin, stands between Brody & Elizabeth… they start to turn to werewolf (moonlight coming through window), he tells her to change him so that he can be were also and defend her – and she scratches him, and he turns, and he has flashes of memory of fighting, then a lot of weres coming into cabin, and then wakes up with a naked Elizabeth wrapped around him…

And they marry in christian’s bar, surrounded by their family and friends. ahhhh

This is book #4 in the Young Brothers saga, and due to challenges I've read this one first. You don't need to read them in order as the brothers and their wives only make a small appearance in this story, and let's face it you know the other books are pnr and they are gonna have a happy ending.

So, this story is about Elizabeth, the werewolf in question, and she is going into heat as the book opens. She spies a likely looking fellow, Jensen Adler, the local vet, at her brothers bar and loses no time in attracting his attention in a biblical way. ^-^

She knows something is wrong as this is totally unusual behaviour for her but doesn't think of going into heat. She also doesn't think of consequences as she is mated to another werewolf, even if she wishes she isn't.

There, I've set up the obviousness of the book for you, I'm sure I don't have to fill in the gaps.

And that is the problem with this book. It is too predictable. Written well enough, no giant plot holes, characters likable but not lovable. Not a book you'd rush to re-read.

The whole book starts out with a girl who is upset because she has to go trolling the local bar because she is a wolf and basically in heat. I guess the good news is it could only get better. It did, is the good news. For those who like noncomplicated steamy reads that are totally predictable and have easy outs, this is for you. Was it horrible, no. It just reminded me of the throbbing members, but I really don't normally do that kind of thing and Oh we just aren't right for each other but we have to have each other and I wonder why we are inexplicably drawn together? Kind of harlequins I snuck as a hormonal teenager. (There just weren't any werewolves then, but lots of the other!)There are so many amazing book choices out there I don't think I will bother with finding out about how her vampire brothers got paired up-to be honest, I really didn't care.

With a title like this, I have to be honest, I didn't expect too much from this book. I was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoyed it very much, and cared about the characters much more than I thought I would.
It's not a heavy or meaningful book by any stretch of the imagination, but a fun read nonetheless!

This book was nothing like the previous ones in the series!! I though Elizabeth's story would be interesting, but all I got was repetitive sentences and a poor plot! A real disappointment ...

So, that wasn't great. The kindle version is pretty poorly formatted. It's also very heavy handed. After all, us readers are far too stupid to understand that this couple feel a mysterious pull to each other if you don't have both characters say it twice within 2 pages of poorly spaced text. The heroine's traits seemed to change on a whim to whatever sounded cool at the moment. Not just between the "ladylike" human and "wild" wolf. She's also the world's worst scientist doing alleged research in a barn with a lab that sounds like a Halloween prop. Except for when she's the world's least convincing former wolf-pack/biker gang member. Not even sure why I finished this book except that sadly, I have read worse, and I guess I was bored. :/

Meh.
I was hoping this would be great but it was sadly boring + annoying for me.
I think the FMC was absolutely clueless for someone who had been a werewolf for so long. You would think that she would have had all those years to hone in on her werewolf skills but nope. And I found it ironic that Jensen easily accepted being turned to save her yet she couldn't stop being a victim for almost all of the book. Yeah her character development was so fucking annoying. Constantly being indecisive but not communicating...honestly I hate that trope in romance books - the miscommunication trope is so fucking annoying + there was a lot of it in this book.
The only good parts of the book was her vampire brothers, and Jensen's granddad. In fact, I was more worried about Granddad than anybody else because he was so awesome.

I give this a 4 star instead of a 5 star because it could have used a little more "connection" to Lizzy overall - we have heard about her for three books and I don't get a sense of her personality, her past is alluded too, her challenges but it's not completely clear. While she's a werewolf, she just doesn't feel complete. Still if this book had jumped into book 5..the development could have expanded there and made up for it but it didn't.
That being said I do recommend it but just don't expect it to read like 1-3, it doesn't. It would have actually made sense if this book had started a new series for Werewolfs (just a thought).

This book lived up to its title - a little catchy, a little amusing and a little corny. But it was a fun read with an easy end, with a backstory that wound around the real story, which was the romance.

Really liked it. But they're going to lose their sister eventually and that just doesn't sit right with me. Also all the were-animals are cool but I wanted to know more about the vampires and wolves as they were the main characters.

Aw that was a cute ending to the series! Definitely moved faster as a whole than the other three books. I wish there’s a book about the next generation!

Overall like the others, it’s cheesy. But it’s cute and easy and just the right amount of cheesy cute.

A fast, romance, good amount of logic leaps and broken character development. Weak plot. Not my favorite in the series, making me question how good the others were (I read them a good long while ago and have fond memories, but maybe I just wasn't as critical back then?)

Finally, an author has written an exceptional werewolf romance with an unyielding female as its lead. Kathy Love's My Sister is a Werewolf is loosely connected to her other series featuring three vampire brothers; this story is about their baby sister, an intelligent and loving woman who wants to be "normal," which means being human.

Elizabeth Young is a centuries old werewolf who relocated to Shady Fork, West Virginia after reuniting with her three brothers. Elizabeth lost her family after they were attacked by an evil vampire. It is never fully explained, but Elizabeth became a victim of a werewolf and was believed to be dead. She was discovered by alpha werewolf Brody Devlin, and lived with his pack until seven years ago when she choose to escape his maniacal rule.

The most important thing in Elizabeth's life at the moment is the creation of a vaccine to cure her "ailment." Lately, her concentration has been off and she has become restless with an irritating need for something - or rather someone - who can make it stop. Elizabeth has no idea that her "true mate" resides in the same town and she finds him at her brother's bar one night, where she has gone to let out her frustrations. She knows the moment when she lays eyes on Jensen Adler that he can help scratch her itch.

Jensen is the town's only veterinarian and lives with his loving grandfather. He refuses to let go of his guilt over the death of his high school sweetheart and the one night he finally agrees to go out with his friends, he is instantly enthralled with Elizabeth and overcome with lust. He soon leaves the bar because he can't handle the uncomfortable reaction but doesn't get very far because Elizabeth is waiting for him in the parking lot where they proceed to have some very hot sex in his truck. Afterwards, they are both horrified - Jensen as he doesn't even know her name, and Elizabeth because she feels as though her body has taken over her mind.

Elizabeth is the aggressor in this relationship at first, but all too soon Jensen wants more than just sweaty, mind-numbing sex with his mysterious lady. But she is not too keen on having a new boyfriend - how will she be able to hide her werewolf nature and find a cure? To say nothing of her psycho werewolf mate Brody, who could show up at any time to destroy her new happiness.

Brody himself is an interesting piece of work as he has no morals or scruples. His mind is so far gone that he can't decide if he still wants Elizabeth back or just wants to kill her because she has become so deeply involved with a human. Brody also comprehends the exact nature of Elizabeth and Jensen's relationship before either one of them does, which puts them both in grave danger.

Elizabeth eventually grasps that living as a werewolf may be a good thing rather than a hindrance while Jensen tries not to fall in love again because he has become so emotionally scarred from his fiancée's unfortunate demise. But, thankfully, he comes to the realization that his life isn't over sooner, rather than later, which helped things move along nicely. Elizabeth and Jensen do complete each other and by the end I believed they were perfect mates in every sense. The only disappointment I had was that the ending felt too sudden and too pat.

Kathy Love's past works tended to be very tame and a tad fluffy, so I was very surprised to discover My Sister Is a Werewolf (despite it's dreadful title and cover art) to be very insightful, erotic, and suspenseful. I enjoyed reading Elizabeth's journey to "being normal." So what if she howls at the full moon and becomes furry at certain times of the month?

Oh, I just love this one. If you haven't read this series, I suggest you don't start with this one. Major spoilers if you don't read the brothers' books first. That being said- fans of Molly Harper's Naked Werewolf series will be delighted with this installment in Love's Young Brothers series. It has all the same ear marks fan of Harper love in her writing.
Elizabeth Young, once presumed dead by her beloved brothers, has joined Christian in living in Shady Forks, Virginia. She's escaped living with the local pack who found her as a youth and is currently striving for a cure. Having aged roughly ten years in the almost two centuries she's been gone- Elizabeth looks about twenty seven now. Her looks aren't the only things that have changed either. She's become more knowledgeable about the hardships the world has to offer.
As she's drowning her sorrows one night in her brother's bar, in walks Jensen Adler. He himself has had the misfortune to have lady luck turn against him. His fiance had passed away and he's still nursing his upset at the tragedy. Too bad for both of them that its this werewolf's time of the year and she's in some major heat. And her hormones have chosen Jensen as her mate.
This hilariously written novel is the best of the four and it's mostly due to the plot being better written. I hope people can enjoy this novel in the way it's meant to be enjoyed. Yes, it's quick easy and lighthearted fun, but fun none the less.

Elizabeth Young is a werewolf and researcher, doing her best to find a cure for her condition. Jensen Adler is a veterinarian, recently returned to his home town to take over his grandfather’s practice. Elizabeth has been out of sorts lately and wonders if the new serum she developed might be the cause. She needs to get out of the house and heads for the bar owned by her sister-in-law and sees Jensen who had reluctantly agreed to go out with old friends. The two notice each other right away.

The situations are funny as she’s acting out of character with the sex (he’s not exactly pushing her away) yet she keeps trying to tell herself and him that it can’t go any further. She is a werewolf and mated to a bad guy she’d run away from when leaving the pack, so it would be safer for him if they didn’t see each other anymore. Well you know that’s not going to work out.

You’ve got to love Jensen’s grandfather. He tells it like it is – mostly to his grandson. The guy even leaves out condoms when he realizes Jensen is seeing someone. See a wolf? Shoot it.

Two of Elizabeth’s brothers are on hand to shake up Jensen when their sister is depressed, and to help find her when she’s kidnapped.

Humor is definitely a big part of the story along with the romance and sex. I found it to be a very enjoyable, easy read that fits in nicely with her brothers’ books.

When I first heard about the fourth book in the Young Brothers series, I was really confused as to how there could be when there are only 3 brothers and all the way through the first 3 books the brothers believe their sister to be dead.
However I loved the twist in the story, not only is she alive and reunited with her family she is also a werewolf.

Elizabeth escaped from her pack a long time ago, including from the male wolf she mated with. When she meets vet Jensen, she can't explain her feelings for him all she knows is she wants him more than anyone but tries to keep her distance from him to protect him from her world.

I really enjoyed this book, it was really good and a nice change from reading about vampires. I read this book really fast in 1 day and I thought it was really good. This isn't my favourite of the series but I still really enjoyed it.

I loved reading this series and I am really sad that there is no more to read. I will definitely read more series by this author.

Well......in one weekend I read all 4 books in this series and LOVED them all.

This last book was about the brothers (werewolf)sister Elizabeth.
I LOVED the story, however;..............yes there is a however, I didn't much care for how the H/H got together the first few times. Basically she walked up to him and told him she wanted to fuck him. Compared to the other books, which were funny and we saw a seduction mostly, this book wasn't funny or very tender. I didn't feel the chemistry between these two like I did in the other books. By the end of the book, yes, it was there but for most of it, I didn't feel it. Was just raw, wild sex.

Loved my HEA of course and was sad to see the series end. Thought the whole series was a 4.5. Light and easy reads, good storylines, hot sex scenes and the HEA we all love............lol Will be reading the first 3 books again tho, those brother vampires are just too damn hot not to go back for a second read.

this one is about Lizzie (wolf) and Jensen. Lizzie has gone to W. Virginia to live, near Christian & Jolee. She meets Jensen at Christian & Jolee's bar. The problem is that Lizzie is technically still mated, and her ex is crazy & possessive. This book has more action then the other books, but is just as easy a read as the others. It's got the humor etc that the other books had too. Sebastien & Mina are also in this book, but Rhys is only in the end. Sweet ending. My only issue is that Christian & Sebastien take off with Jensen to rescue Lizzie, but they have to get out of the sun, then Jensen goes off on his own. The rescue is way to quick, and the brothers helping to rescue her feels like it was dropped. I also wish that there was a large space between dialogue of different people/scenes. Ex. - Lizzie is with Jensen talking, then it's Brody (Lizzie's ex) talking to himself. 5 or 6 blank lines would let you know your reading a new scene/dialogue.

This was the best story of the Young Brothers series, this is there long lost sister that they found at the end of Sebastians story. But Elizabeth is having problems finding the cure to her curse and the injections she has made has dont nothing to help out. But that is the least of her problems when a scent that makes her feel like she is in heat and now her body is on a mission to get the man and want to do dirty things with. Jensen is in morning since his fiance dies in a car accident and three years later his old school friends take him out to meet a women they choose but when he smells a scent that makes his man parts rise but he wasn't wanting to meet anyone. so Elizabeth took matters into her own hands and took what she wanted. Unfortunately her dead beat of a mate that she ran away from is in her little town wanting her back for his own selfless needs.

I absolutely loved this fourth novel in Kathy Love's Young sibling novels. The first three novels follow Elizabeth's vampire brothers. She had thought they were dead and reunited with them in book 3. In this book, we learn how she became a werewolf and watch her romance with Jensen, a vet.

This book is filled with humor and if you're looking for a good laugh, then this is the book for you. The romance between the characters is well-developed. My one real complaint is the ending of the book. It's hard to explain without giving anything away. But, it seemed too easy and convenient. But that aside, I soaked up this story and highly recommend the entire series.

Lizzie wishes she could find true love like all three of her brothers have, but she knows that her past will one day come to find her making that impossible. When one night she comes across Jensen she loses all control and is inexplicably drawn to this beautiful human.

There is no chance to find love with a human when you're an immortal, but love just doesn't seem to think clearly.

Jensen finds himself back in his hometown in West Virgina. Still mourning the loss of his fiance, he has no intention to do anything other than taking over the family business, a vet run by his grandfather. That is until this wild woman seems to flood his mind until he can't think clearly.

Scorching and downright difficult to put down.

This is the fourth book to the Young brother series. I kept putting this book off because of the low rating, but I really enjoyed the story. I loved Jensen, he fell in love in high school and the passing of his love left him empty until he seen Elizabeth in a bar and gave her a ride home, the passion that they found this night could not keep them apart long. Elizabeth is great she comes with a past and mate she has not seen in years, that she is in need to get rid of.. I love the scene it take place in the town where two of her vampire brothers and their wives lives, so they are in the book also. This is a fun, easy read book with excitement and great romance.

This was the final book in this series and I enjoyed it. It tells the story of Lizzie the younger sister of the Young brothers who they thought was dead.

While I did enjoy it, it pretty much started off with the two main characters having sex. To be honest I would have liked a little bit of a lead up. However this was really my only complaint about the book.

It was a good story with bumps along the way.

I found it intriguing that a person could be changed into a werewolf almost instantaneously.

Loved the mention of ‘weresheep’.

I enjoyed Lizzie’s mix of strength and vulnerability.

I am sad that the series is finished.

This a book where you get lost in the story if you don't start at the beginning, its about an upset she wolf in heat strolling bars to find someone to sate her appetite , then the story starts to dwindle down , and as soon as I reach the middle I am starting to regret reading the novel , but the plot was alright so I was able to finish it .

the love scenes are a tad to bland for a paranormal romance novel and the plot was so so for me , character building is alright but not so well written. Would i be interested the rest of the books for this series? No I won't be interested the rest of the series , for me this is like bargainer's paranormal romance novel.

This is the fourth book in the Young Brothers series. It was the story of their youngest sister. They thought that she was deceased but she had been revived by a pack of werewolves. She was then turned into a werewolf. As she is reunited with her brothers, she mets a vet named Jansen that she falls in love with and instantly feels bonded. However, she already has a pack mate and he is on the insane side. He is coming after her and wants her back even though he has been kicked out by the pack.
