A simple noise complaint to Safe Haven Security ends in a broken door when Jeremy misinterprets something he hears coming from inside Troy Ballard’s home. It also starts the two men on a path of high resistance, as neither of them wants a ‘relationship,’ especially not with each other. Their lives are too different.
Unfortunately, their hearts insist on wanting exactly what their minds know to be impossible. With the dubious help of their friends, Jeremy and Troy start to discover that sometimes ‘impossible’ is anything but.
This is a sequel of sorts to Lemon Yellow: Making Lemonade although it can be read as a stand-alone with no problems. It's a well written and entertaining story about an interior designer and the security guard who crashes his party thinking he's about to save someone. Troy and Jeremy don't appear to have a lot in common at first but as they slowly form a friendship their hearts become engaged. I really enjoy TC's writing style. Her stories are emotional, humorous, sexy and sweet and feature likable 'normal everyday' protags. I hope she gives Riley, Jeremy's friend, his own story.
Very good m/m romance about an interior designer with trust issues who has friends over every Monday. After a noise complaint and confusion literally bring security guards crashing through his door one Monday night, he finds himself unwillingly attracted to one of the security guards. (And I hope that TC's going to write Riley's story very soon!)
This book is very different form the first book in this series! While the previous book is dealing with heavy subject matters this book is much lighter and funnier. You do not have to read the first one to enjoy this one, but I recommend it, and you do meet Troy and, to a lesser degree, his circle of friends as supporting characters in the first book.
Troy is an interior designer who's been burned in love and hasn't found anyone that he truly trusts after that. He has a somewhat large circle of friends who all seem like more of less good people - including his formerly cheating ex and said ex's new boyfriend. Troy has his friends over for Margaritas every Monday (hence the title) and on one such day the neighbors call neighborhood security and guard Jeremy comes - literally - crashing into Troy's life.
It's a bit of a cliche - the stylish and pretty interior designer and the built, hunky, good-looking security guard, but it works here. These guys are a good fit and Jeremy is just what Troy needs - and vice versa. Jeremy's down to Earth and a generally good guy and their love story is believable and I could see them having a true HEA.
The secondary characters are great! There are some really funny moments and though not all of the secondary characters might be people I would like to have in my own life, I appreciated them on page.
A promising premise marred by staccato dialogue and silly contrivances.
I liked the story for the most part. Then, at about midway through the book until the end, I was continuously pulled out of the story because Jeremy kept speaking in staccato form to Troy.
At first, it was okay. Kind of cute.
“...your hand. Is it? That cloth seems. You’re hurt, right?”
“I. Okay, Mr. I mean, Troy. And yeah, I can do that.”
Sometimes, Troy would do the same thing.
“It’s a party, after all. And since it’s my house, I think. Yeah. Outside.”
It started to get annoying...
“We should. I don’t know. Something. Soon.”
...really fast.
“Kind of came out of nowhere, but yeah. I. Maybe we could -- you know what? We can talk about that later. I. Why don’t you call me?...”
If that's not enough, these characters are prone to long bouts of silence, because they're thinking things through too much. The amount of introspection both characters keep having is mind-boggling.
And! Look, now I'm doing it too. Damn it. Where was I? Oh yes, another thing that bothered me is that there's a brief moment of trouble in paradise near the end of the book. Presumably, it's to raise tension for a bit and create some drama. Drama over an incredibly minor, seriously silly reason. The phrase "mountain out of a molehill" really applies here.
Despite all that, I did enjoy most of the story. It's only past two-thirds of the book that I started wanting to strangle the main characters.
A fun enough read if you can ignore the issues I mentioned earlier.
Oh, yeah, this is great. The main couple is sweet and the romance deep, while it’s really the secondary characters who make this book shine. And Riley, oh god! I am so looking forward to rereading his story next.
Well, with all of the mind-blowingly offensive things Riley say, I probably should not be nitpicky about how he goes off about Jeremy being gay not bi, just because he is with a guy at the time. I wouldn’t care – Riley being Riley – but with Jeremy’s uncle and later even Jeremy agreeing, there’s a sense the author propagates that and that irks me.
That’s about all that interrupted the bliss of my reading, though. A solid story, this time a lot more sexual than the previous one. Again there’s a delightful lack of full stereotypes (even Julian has a good moment) or villains (people aren’t good or bad; everyone contains all sorts of traits); plus, from a storytelling point of view, it amazes me how little time actually passes during the main part of the story (two weeks) compared to how unrushed it feels.
I somehow feel I should perhaps take a break now, draw the goodness that is this series out longer – but I doubt I will. Sometimes you just have to live in the moment. <3
2011 Review:
I was a little worried because with this author I have to be careful of emotional wrenching. (She often addresses very tricky stuff and I am scared to pick from that pile.) But in the end this book wasn’t at all painful, just sweet.
And Riley from volume three (which I accidentally read first) was introduced. Ah, he’s so funny. XD He’s even funnier in his own book though. <3
T.C. is very good at delivering an awesome tale that is satisfying yet leaves the reader clamoring for the next story. As soon as I finished Lemon Yellow: Making Lemonade (ok, maybe is more like "as soon as I finished drying my tears"), my first reaction was "Where's Troy's story?" Finally, here it is!
All I can say is get ready to laugh out loud, because this one has some absolutely awesome one liners. There is a good plot, plenty of romance, and hot sex packed into this story, but what makes it stand out is the comic relief.
As I have come to expect from T.C., there is a great cast of characters including some characters we already know and love, as well as a new character that is just made of awesome. Troy is a fantastic character that I already loved from "Lemon Yellow" Jeremy is a nice guy, really. He is a perfect foil for Troy. However, it is Jeremy's work partner Riley that really steals the show. He may only have a few lines, but OMG what lines! His presence and contribution to the story is much larger than his word count. I know Riley's story is coming and I. CAN'T. WAIT. to read it. It's going to rock!
I highly recommend this novel for the next time you need a good brain scrubbing or an instant pick-me-up, because it is a guaranteed good time!
PS: Try not to read and drink. You might spray all over your reader or computer as soon as Riley opens his mouth.
This was a relatively quick and very pleasant read for me. It's the story of Troy and Jeremy. They accidentally meet, are instantly attracted, have to work through some misunderstandings and perception issues due to prior relationships, and eventually come out the other side as a potential couple.
There was one aspect of the book that took some getting used to for me. It was the approach to the dialogue, which was often staccato in nature (single words, clipped, abrupt, thoughts cut off, etc.). I couldn't determine if this could be chalked up to writing style or the nature of these characters in this story setting (perhaps nervous). Regardless, once I settled into the rhythm of the dialogue, it seemed to flow better.
If you are looking for a lot of angst, major declarations of love, and a really solid HEA, you won't find it here. What you will get is a good story with alternating points of view, some humor injected via the secondary characters, and the promise of a long-term relationship. It was well worth the time to read and a solid 3.5 to 4 stars. I received the ebook as part of a give-away on Goodreads - thank you!

This is a sequel of sorts to Lemon Yellow: Making Lemonade with Evan’s best friend Troy. Every Monday is Margarita Monday at Troy’s. One week there is a noise complaint and as the community security guards arrive they hear someone screaming so they burst in. Seems Troy’s ex broke the coffee table and got glass in his ass. Security guard Jeremy is instantly attracted but Troy doesn’t do relationships, not since the ex cheated on him ten years ago. However he’s desperately attracted and Jeremy is as well but he doesn’t do flings. They can’t deny the attraction and both are drawn despite their misgivings and their own baggage they have to deal with. I really liked this one a lot. I liked how they both tended to blurt things out that would have left me standing their blinking and you could sense their passion and attraction. It was a fun read and you did get to see a bit of Evan and Gray from the first book. Not tons of angst so a nice fun read with lots of sexual tension. I’m dying to know what the scoop is with Jeremy’s BFF Riley and the threesome he befriends. He was quite a character that appealed while making you cringe when he opened his mouth.
A sweet little read without a whole lot of substance is the way that I think this book can be described. Lucky for me it was just what I needed lol.
It's a fairly typical boy meets boy (or I suppose I should really say man meets man as they aren't truly boys anymore) under slightly unusual and slightly embarrassing circumstances. There's instant attraction (read lust...) but no acting on it for a few weeks at least. Also no insta love at all which is a great bonus as far as I'm concerned.
So overall a nice, easy story that is easy to relax and unwind with.
The blurb had promise, but the writing is a little stilted and the characters don’t have any real depth. They are nice men looking for a partner (although they don’t really admit that), their meeting was very cute, and that is about it. There was some manufactured angst, but it was not realistic. The dialogue was hard to read at times with a lot of single word stuttered lines. It was a sort of cute read, but not one you would put on a favorite shelf to go back to on a rainy afternoon at home.
This is a light quick read about two guys who feel an instant connection to each other but then both make assumptions about what the other person does or does not want in a relationship. Both Troy and Jeremy are great guys but sometimes you just want to hit them up side the head. Of course they finally end up on the same page but the path to their happily ever after is full of missteps and misunderstandings. Plus I loved getting to see Troy meeting his match. :)
Ever know someone who spend a lot of time talking and manage to never complete a single sentence. You listen to them breathlessly waiting for coherence, anything & all you get is ... This is that book.
Lots of stuttering, stops & starts, ramblings. Yes, it's true some people do talk this way. But in this case, I could do with a little less realism. Very choppy writing & not for me. I have another T.C. Blue book I bought that hopefully I'll like better.
I have to admit-I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. The title and cover art screamed cheesy to me so I wasn't too thrilled about it. Frankly, I picked this for a challenge and just wanted to get it done. This book is proof to me that I should never judge a book by its cover! I loved the anxiety of Jeremy, the openness of Troy, and the humor of Riley. So glad I read this and I can't wait to go read the other 3 in the series now!
Well... I got my cocktail on the cover. That is about the best thing I can say about this book. I often felt like something was left out of the story in places. The editing needed some work. The banter was sophomoric and annoying. Yeah overall I didn't like it at all. I mean really?? I might read the first one, only because I picked it up for Free in September during Torquere's anniversary giveaways...
Lime Green: Margarita Mondays by TC Blue is a sexy read that tickles the reader’s funny bone as Troy Ballard from Lemon Yellow: Making Lemonade finds a most unexpected and unwelcome attraction to Jeremy Nelson. To view the rest of this review, please visit http://www.blackravensreviews.com/?p=...
I didn't really like this story. It was ok, but not my piece of cake. I guess I just couldn't like the characters. I got the feeling that it was supposed to be humorous, but I couldn't find it funny. But I guess it's just me because I have a hard time liking comedies =)
Troy and Jeremy are a fun couple and I enjoyed their get together. Not sure whether to anticipate or dread Riley's story as his mouth is bound to get him into big trouble!
The story was pretty comical and enjoyable in every possible way. The characters were truthful to themselves and totally great. In general great and enjoyable story!
Not my favorite but it was okay. It's a nice quick read but not that memorable. I liked the ending, I thought that was sweet, but everything else was kinda 'meh' for me.
