Introduction to Thermal and Fluids Engineering

Rate this book
This innovative book uses unifying themes so that the boundaries between thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics become transparent. It begins with an introduction to the numerous engineering applications that may require the integration of principles and tools from these disciplines. The authors then present an in-depth examination of the three disciplines, providing readers with the necessary background to solve various engineering problems. The remaining chapters delve into the topics in more detail and rigor. Numerous practical engineering applications are mentioned throughout to illustrate where and when certain equations, concepts, and topics are needed.

As a child, I read everything, including Asimov, which propelled me into science, the Bible, which got me into trouble, and the encyclopedia, which I did not finish. I wrote my first short story in seventh grade, but my teacher criticized it and set back my nascent writing career for almost half a century. Over the years I tried to write novels, always getting through the first few pages and then being stumped. In the meantime, I married, had two daughters, and taught engineering for almost thirty years. It was only in retirement, when I was struck by a mysterious ailment that kept me in bed for many hours a day that I figured out how to write. I rediscovered the "snowflake" method of novel writing. Think of a premise, and then a conclusion. Then tell the story in one paragraph. Then three paragraphs, then five paragraphs, and soon you have a detailed outline of a novel. It worked for me!! Hallelujah!
